So you had no issues with the mx+ adapter coding the tailgate options?

I have the LX and have changed those options recently also for long press on the buttons, I have not enabled close from the buttons with teh LX though, did it long ago when it first worked using a cable.

Does coding the tailgate require Expert mode?

I just updated the firmware on my MX (it was behind a few) and still can't code "close via remote" ,(the only feature I really want). However I haven't tried the other options without it. I'll try again before looking into other adapters. They just raised the price of the MX+ almost double from it's lowest in Dec '19, so I'm on the fence on dropping that much for 1 feature.

We'll see, thanks for your feedback, it really helps to narrow down these issues.

I just ordered an LX. If I can't code the tailgate with it I'll be sending it back to Amazon for a refund.

yeah - we don't have it on version 3.5 on iOS yet. Maybe some beta testers have it, but not the official release.

Looks I can return my MX for a refund as well. I want to see if anyone else that has the newer MX+ that can Tailgate code before upgrading to an MX+ or another type of adapter.

I'm using an Android phone. Is the tailgate option available? I hope to have my new adapter on Saturday.

It is currently available on the beta version of Bimmercode and works with an ENET cable on a MY19 G05 with 7/2019.55.

I would love to use my ENET cable with my Android Phone, but don't looks like there is support for it yet. I'm waiting on other MX+ users that have access to Tailgate coding to respond with their experience before making any changes to my setup.

Last I talked to the developer, it was a bluetooth issue and none of the adapters could code the close from remote option and said it can only be done via the cable on IOS, that is how I coded mine originally with an IOS version he sent me, can do the rest on Android with bluetooth.

I'm tech challenged. What is a Enet cable and how would I use it with my OnePlus Android phone?

It's a Network cable connected to an OBD device. You can't currently code with an Enet cable with any Android device. Only with an iPhone or laptop.

I was reading the BimmerCode manual and it said is possible that iDrive settings might have to be restored. That's a big problem if true. Can someone tell me if this is typical or rare? I had planned to purchase the Obdlink MX+ adapter. But not thrilled to restore tons of settings for me + wife.
Thanks!

Never had that happen with Bimmercode coding yet and I don't recall reading about that happening to anyone else either. Yet.

However, it might not be a bad thing to start getting used to the idea of reset settings — there is a really good chance that will happen on a software update. A software update may, incidentally, also clear some or all coding (Bimmercode or otherwise).

In terms of settings, the biggest issue for me is driver seat and steering positions: those are hard to duplicate and take a long time to get just right from scratch. The other settings are plentiful, but you can either write them down, take pics, or just do them enough times to know what you want. Can't do that for seat and steering positions, nothing to take a pic of and no values to write down; too analog.

Thanks for the quick note...never coded, but I'll plan on tackling next month after my first 10K oil change and software update.
I'm about halfway through this extensive coding thread...a great source of info.
Think I'll avoid the Expert section (for now, at least)
