Seems like it. Need to figure it out I already sent emails to BMW customer relations, genius and everyone I can think of. Lets see what will happen tomorrow
I wouldn't hold my breath on their reply. They've been pretty slow replying to emails.

Calling usually has a 5 minute wait max so might be worth a shot dialing when you get a minute.

1(844)4GENIUS (make your life a bit easier )

Good luck man. Hopefully they get you some answers

Agreed problem I have is it went all the way to quality check and sat there for 1 day and then suddenly 2nd day afternoon it went back to production begins status and BMW genius also says it doesn't make sense. Suddenly on Friday vin decoder worked.

My estimated completion date is TODAY, which moved up from Feb. 3rd! Here is my updated timeline:

Dec 19, 2020 - Placed Order,
Dec 20, 2020 - Order Received on Website
Jan 8, 2021 - Scheduled Production
Jan 20, 2021 - Production Beings (called BMW genius, Feb. 3rd estimated completion date)
Feb 1, 2021 - Exterior body assembly begins, In the paint booth, Entering assembly line

The stages are going quick today! Hopefully this mid-Atlantic snow storm doesn't delay delivery. Picking up in eastern PA where they got a lot of snow. Don't want to drive the new X5 in this junk but have to get it to detailer for paint correction and clear bra.

Ok I was able to get some updates on my strange situation.
So heres the full story. On Jan 12 2021 my dealer put the order for the X5 45e and he sent me the build sheet with the production number. I checked everything and gave him the OK. Status of the vehicle was 111 and I add it to my garage in BMW site. Then on very next day it went to scheduled for production and when I call I was told it will be produced on 29th. Then on 15th of Jan I received a VIN number. On 26th of Jan when I call they told me it will be now produced on 27th Jan. Then on 26th Jan I see a movement in my tracking and it went up to Entering assembly line. When I woke up on 27th its said quality check. Now the most interesting part. This quality check status didnt change on the whole day and on the following day afternoon (28th) around 2 pm when I checked the status instead of quality check now it went backwards to Schedulled for production. I call BMW genius and they told me all information about the vehicle is now blank they can only see it was produced on 27th and now the current status is blank. No alarms still call on 29th morning same issue and in the afternoon I filed a case with BMW custmer relations team and asked the dealer to inquire from the factory. Now today afternoon dealer talked with me and they also cant understand whats going on as they called the factory they have given them a new production number with a new VIN attached to it with my name. Factory has told them previous production number is no longer available. Also they have told them current order is on expedite status as its immidealty went to Production started state on 29th of Jan (this I saw on their system). One theory is they found something unrecoverable during quality check so they got rid of the car and ordered me an new vehicle with the same spec on 28th of Jan. Now it has a new production number and new VIN. This is by far the strangest thing that happned to me. I would think this story will be interesting to quite a lot of people here. So I hope I will get this new order soon.

Yikes. Only thing I can think of is what you already suggested — discovered irreparable issues during QC and started your build over. Thanks for sharing and keep us posted.

Ah man, I'm sorry to hear car is delayed. Way better that they find something wrong at the factory than you finding something wrong weeks later. Keep us posted.

I agree. I m glad it happened this way rather than I m getting a car and possibly have to Lemmon law it later. To make matters worse I m moving from Nashville to Oregon and I was planning to ship the car to oregon with my personal stuff loaded in. Now dealer is trying to find out a possible way to make everything happen. I told dealer ask the support from BMW for extra cost that we have to burden just by shipping cars between Nashville and Oregon.

If you're going to be in Oregon when the car ships...could they ship it there to a dealer instead? The shipping cost to you is the same.

Thats another thing we are going to discuss. Only thing is I will have to spend close to the same amount of money to ship my personal stuff to oregon which I was planning to ship it in the vehicle

She's here!

Everyone, meet Norah. She's a bit dirty but I asked the dealer not to wash.

And this isn't the best shot but I promise I'll get more after the PPF+ceramic are done

Super pumped

Feb 2, 2021 - Awaiting Carrier Assignment

Hopefully delivery won't take long as its only going to Reading, PA. Although, this snow storm may delay delivery

Keep in mind that there isn't a sales tax in Oregon.

My car shows that it's dispatched from factory. I was able to get the Bill of Lading from the dealer and it's on a train in Atlanta. So.....a bit still to wait.
