X5M off road driving

I have a mountain home and road going to there is not that good…asphalt has bumps and small holes sometimes but car is doing very good I don’t feel any change in suspension I am amazed that I don’t hear year suspension bushings to make stupid sounds haha.

It seems suspension is very stiff also in reliability, anyone here have same experiences how strong is F95/F96 suspension for non highway driving?

My tire set is on bmw official winter rims/tires 21’ Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 Suv.

The F95/96 suspension is more than adequate for mild road imperfections. However I wouldn’t exactly described these cars as “off-readers” (especially the F96). On the Michelin Alpin 5s you car should handle most moderately snow covered back roads with careful driving

Ugh, I did not take my F96 offroading, but I had a bit of fun in my old F95, shortly before I traded it for the F96. It was during the summer of 2020, during the plandemic. I still had winter tires on it because I was too lazy to swap I drove it so little.

It was great, snow tires provide great traction on loose surfaces, and the sophisticated AWD system works wonders. Just don't go anywhere that requires ground clearance.

I am also amazed during winter - how good is the car with Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 Suv I never used snow chains or never had a terrain where I can't go over snow in X5M F95 temps up to -24 C.

And so far everything is fine with suspension no rattles no noises or anything else. 90% of time car is driven in highway and city just weekends I use to go on mountain home.

two reasons why you wouldn't want to go off road..one you already said it .. low ground clearance..two, anything happens to that sheet metal..it's one expensive fix..

Yea this car isn't really meant for serious off-roading, but everyone knows that already. Not to mention so many on here lower their car because of, OMG "wheel gap", which makes it even less suitable for offroading lol.

Yes they are not off road but it has been two years since I go with it to my mountain home every month and sometimes two times per month...road is not that good but so far everything handled well - suspension is good no noises no difference haven't changed anything since I have the F95 of course I try to drive carefully but sometimes I can't do much since its potholed road.

Don't get me wrong, they are amazing cars, great to drive, luxurious, fun, beautiful, comfortable and very expensive. But they are not real off-roaders.
They do have very capable torque vectoring AWD systems, so they handle loose/slippery surfaces very well, as long road clearance isn't required.

Check the rims too, they are probably bent.

I don’t know, I didn’t see any visible dent/ bent , it’s at garage right now.
Btw, How much shops charge to repair wheels? Any good one in NJ?

You are not going to see it until you put the rim on the balancing machine and spin it. An impact hard enough to destroy the tire usually takes the rim out too - the inside part squishes it into an oval shape, so you'll always have wheel hopping. I do not recommend repairs, they never get them perfect, and no matter what you'll always have slight vibrations. Also the metal has been weakened, and the rim will get damaged again once you hit a moderate bump/pothole. Bite the bullet and get replacement rims.
