Don’t want to talk too soon but I updated my Australian spec G05 built in Aug 2019 with the 07/2022.58 OTA update today. Whilst recoding all my cheat sheet mods, I noticed my old Android digital key menu in the head unit has been updated to DK 1.5 ie the Apple Version that IFR spoke about sometime ago as a remote possibility that BMW may retrofit the option. I don’t have a compatible iPhone to check if the Digital key option is there but I suspect it could be activated in the My BMW App only by the dealer when it goes for it’s next service and is connected to the server in Munich
I also noticed 2 extra distance control features for those, that have Driver Assist Professional namely the option to switch undertaking on and off in the menu and auto adjust the distance due to local conditions

Interesting. However, this might be settings specific to your country. Did you happen to look to see what the update changes were? Both your phone and the car should tell you what features/changes were made with this update. I don't see either of the options you're showing listed in my list of changes for the 07/2022.58 update.

I'll be sure to check this when I install it this weekend.

I have back up copies of all my original NCD files from my last OTA update (07/2021) before I do any coding I then run a check on the differences so i can update my cheat sheet before I recode anything. I used to do this using an Excel sheet but Bimmer Utility has a very good tool called NCD Compare that can easily identify these changes
I think everyone has the same generic promo on their phone re update features and maybe these "new" standard features may be unique to the Australian market. My point is BMW stated the Apple digital key feature would only be available for cars assembled August 2020 onwards Mine was assembled in August 2019 and came with The Android phone digital key which i used briefly.
In E Sys BMW actually have an official retrofit code for this feature (SMAC) which if added to the Vehicle FA by the dealer before recoding would enable the feature in the car but still requires the system to be enabled at the backend in Munich I will be looking forward to my next dealer vist with whom i get on very well with to see if i am on the money

Mine is an October 2019 build. I was referring more specifically to the 2 additional "Distance Control" features.

From my understanding the digital key feature was disabled for Android by BMW early on. The digital key feature is only supported with an iPhone from what I understand. So that feature doesn't apply to those of us who use an Android phone.

I will update this thread on the Distance Control features once I do the update. Someone else who has already updated here in the US might beat me to the punch.

Digital key works for Android. I have an Android (S22 Ultra), and Digital Key on it.

Yes. But you have a 2022. Originally, I believe BMW stated they were no longer going to support the digital key for android for future model years. I had it when I got the car but it never worked. I have a 2020 X7. it away. I think BMW made a hardware change that came out in the MY2021/2022 model year to support Android.

My 2020 X7 does not have the digital key feature. I do have the credit card key but I can't use my phone to lock/unlock/start the vehicle other than for comfort access. In other words, my phone can not be used as a key. I also have the S22 Ultra.

Hi
Just want you to know that the lack of Android support is not limited to X series.

I have a 2020 M340. Initially, digital key worked fine for my phone at the time, a Samsung S8. After a year or so, BMW announced that they were no longer supporting Android devices and indeed that held true for about another year or so. Then they reversed & said select Android would be supported supported. Over that time, I replaced my phone with a Samsung S21+, which is listed as supported. -- but ConnectedDrive app has not been updated since for my car to include the digital key set up panel. I have contacted BMW Assist and am told my car's hardware won't support-- which is not true. I've offered to be a beta tester, but still no joy

Can you elaborate on what exactly you can do with your phone? Can you unlock/lock the car with comfort access? Can you use your phone as a key and start and drive the car without having a key fob in your possession or in the vehicle?

Digital Key has been available for Androids (some models) since 2021.

Good day all
I have picked up on another 2022.58 update change, only noticed it this morning. BMW in their wisdom have decided that those of us that have an internal music hard drive should no longer have access to it. I am not sure if it is just limited to Australian spec G05's or world wide. I would suggest those that have it just check and give feedback to others on the forum

I have gone through the Head unit coding and found the offending FDL command
ENT_ETS_SUPPORT which needs to be changed back to "enabled"
Can be done using Bimmer Utility or Bimmercode in expert mode

I completed the download to my phone and fully transferred the software update to the vehicle last Thursday. Since then it has been stuck with "Preparations for upgrade to version 07/2022.58 completed. You will be notified when the upgrade can be installed."

Whatever I do, it will not prompt me to begin the upgrade. I thought it could be battery related, so I hooked it up to my CTEK over night and the charger's status this morning showed stage 7 (fully charged) but I am still not promoted to upgrade. Any suggestions short of making a service appointment? Is there a way to tell the car to delete the download and restart the process by transferring from my phone? Thanks!

Same issue here. The upgrade downloaded a few days ago but no actual upgrade has occurred.
This is with a 2019 xDrive 40i. For what it is worth my 4 year anniversary just occurred so a few of my remote services (though not Remote Software Upgrade) just expired.

I stand to be corrected but I read some time ago the update will only proceed at a certain temperature I have done 2 OTA updates by downloading the files onto my iPhone using my home Wifi then download img it to the car using the car wifi which takes no more than 20mins with the engine running As soon as that is done I start the update by parking it in my garage & locking it In both cases the update took about 30mins and the outside temp was about 25 degrees Celsius I think your issue may be temperature related I have also read some owners have had issues using Android phones to transfer the files to the car

It's an interesting theory for sure. My car is parked in the garage where it's ~13c. Anyone have a clue where the temperature sensor is? Maybe I blow some hot air on it? ;-)

Just an FYI but I've heard that there are some sporadic issues with 07/2022.58. There have been some reports that the update breaks Car Play and Android Auto. Another poster said that the update broke the iDrive connection between the car and internal/external hard drives. So, he couldn't stream music from his hard drive. He had to use Bimmercode to recode it back.

I also, talked to my dealer and they said they have had quite a few people bring their cars in due to problems with the update.

There is some discussion about it here. https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...1974889&page=4. As can be seen in this post some members don't believe there is any issue with this update. However, the information and CSR/BMW Genius personnel say otherwise. Everyone should make their own informed decision before proceeding with the 07/2022.58 update.

Correct i lost connection to my internal hard drive which i fixed using Bimmercode and also had reinitialise my Key card due to the update from digital key version 1 to version 1.5 which i have said previously now supports iPhones

It has already been released in the US, it does not go by region of the country but rather by some unknown, likely even to BMW , algorithm that chooses which vehicles get it and when.

my vehicle was just in for its annual service (oil change, microfilter), state inspection. they performed a tire rotation at no cost to me and updated my software from 07/2021.xx to 11/2022.44 since I ‘complained’ about a couple issues. I did provide them with the SIB for vehicles not receiving timely OTA updates, but don’t know if that had any bearing. according to the service write-up, they hooked it up to their computer which found there was an update available. they did have to request approval first from BMW.
