Yes, I am a big fan of ceramic coating. I am currently pending some estimates on cost, but 800 euros seems very cheap, if done by a professional.

im not quite sure why you would need a ceramic coating on a brand new paint job - is it really going to prevent much ? the paint is going to look pristine when its new anyway. How much shinier is it going to get ? Not criticizing just curious for myself if I need it.

^^ New paint straight from the factory has imperfections on it and it is not the glossiest it can be. Also ceramic not only protects the paint from the elements it also makes washing/drying the car 1000% easier. It also keeps it cleaner longer because dirt doesn't cling to the paint as much.

There will be many opinions on this, I will try to answer from the point of view of having ceramic coated many of my vehicles since I discovered how great this stuff is.

New Paint - yes, new paint looks great, but if you care to keep that look for a long time with minimum work, then ceramic coating is for you. Can you ceramic coat old paint, of course you can. Just need to prep the paint if needed...I mean do paint correction (e.g., clean, clay, polish), then seal the deal with ceramic.

Easy Cleaning - yes, in my opinion, ceramic coating makes my life easy when cleaning.

Protection - yes, but you need to understand what it does and it does not. It does not prevent rock chips, paint chips of deep scratches (PPF can be used for that). Depending on which product you use, it may protect against other stuff.

Bottomline: If you care and want to keep that pristine look on your paint look as pristine as possible, then consider ceramic coating.

Others feel free to chime in one way or another. BTW, allow me to introduce my 2006 Mustang GT Black original paint of 17 yrs, ceramic coated...paint looks in person how it looks on the pic...brand new, with no swirl marks...

$1600 quoted for me, comes with paint correction and all the prep, wheels and carbon bits in and out. Two coats, and yearly touch up for an additional $400 a year. This is Bay Area CA.

I think $800 is very inexpensive for ceramic coating assuming it is done properly. The good quality ceremic coat itself is probably $150. The application is very labor intensive, easily 4-5 man-hour. The end result is a think layer of glass like material on clear coat, which should last for a few years. The car will look very shiny when clean, like the example above. The most beneficial aspect is how easy it is for subsequent cleaning. For $800 I will have the shop do it. In North Cali, the cost of ceramic coating at a detail place is like $2500. I opted for DIY. Extremely labor intensive

I've done a few of my cars myself and most of the work is in the prep and that comes down to the condition of the paint and how perfect you want to get it. My car only needed one step polish before it was good enough for me to apply the ceramic coating but thats still easily 10-15+ hours worth of work total.

Another thing to consider is that most shops uses "professional grade" coatings that average consumers can't purchase. Supposedly the pro grade ones last longer but i've yet to see any tests confirming that. This doesn't matter to me because i tend to reapply toppers on my paint weekly and re-ceramic coat the car on a yearly basis since I do it myself.

If you are the type that will only bring the car to those automated car wash places don't waste your time trying to perfect the paint. It takes one bad wash to ruin hours of work. I have friends like that where they want to polish out every swirl after they see how my paint looks just to take their own car to a local car wash the next day. Regardless ceramic is worth it just for the ease of maintenance after its done.

I spent 1250 for ceramic with paint correction and it’s the best extra $$ I have spent on a new car.

Zero swirls after correction.
Zero swirls 2 years later.
Water jumps off the car…simply can’t stick to it. Makes maintenance cleaning super simple as well.

My rig looks like the day I got it. Amazingly sharp and clear in colo. Actually better, as there aren’t any swirls from the dealer removing the transport protection.

My wife’s Phytonic Blue G05 looks rather dull next to mine. We didn’t get ceramic on that. I am going to have them correct paint and add it as we are going to keep it long term.

Depends on the product.

Ceramic Coating is definitely worth it when you have a proper product applied to your car. Professional Car Detailers in Australia such as ourselves at Hot Ride, we mainly use a product called Crystal Serum Ultra by Gtechniq. The manufacturer gives us 9 years guarantee on this product. The application of ceramic coating seems complicated to some people, but to professionals, it is really only a process. So when comparing prices, I suggest to look for the product, and the duration it lasts on a car. For example, would you pay 1200 for a product that lasts 3 years or 2000 for a product that lasts 9 years? I am not sure if Crystal Serum Ultra is available in your country, but itis worth looking it up.

Cheers
