Help! order a new car

Hi guys,

Freshman here. Hope you guys all doing well!

This is also the first time that I order a car.

I paid deposite to order a BMW X5 M on Nov.16.2023 in a dealer located in Toronto, Canada. At my strong request to the dealer, they finally sent me the production number on Jan.5.2024 also an attachment of the order details. On this oder detail, it shows 'Status/Date': 111/08.15.2023.

What I did not understand is: I paid deposite on Nov.16.2023. How could BMW received my order before I paid my deposite?????

Any thoughts? Appreciate!

May have been an allocation that the dealer already had.
