Next Gen BMW iDrive & Display
Not sure if this has already been posted, but I just ran across this article.
While the commercial is kind of cheesy and plays to the now overplayed "hey boomer" theme, the snippets of what can be seen as a preview of the next iDrive doesn't really impress me much or stand out as innovative in any way. It looks similar to the MB's current setup in regards to physical screen placement and configuration. Even worse, the strange outside gauges are still there and it doesn't look very configurable, at least from the commercial. If this was their chance to showcase the next iDrive, they really didn't present much in the way of how it will actually work or what it can offer. I really dislike the current instrument cluster; it's the most non-configurable digital screen out there versus Audi and MB. At the very least they could have offered us traditional gauges instead of these weird reverse asymmetric ones if they're not going to allow us to change the instrument cluster display. Analog gauges would have been better as we're really not gaining much in the full screen. https://www.carscoops.com/2021/01/bm...e-at-ces-2021/ |

I would say the display seems cold, but I guess the mood colors are supposed to soften the experience.
ANYTHING to bag on the boomers....
