Ivory Merino with piping?

I was pleasantly surprised when I picked up my X5 (Phytonic Blue) to find that the Ivory Merino seats had dark blue (almost black) contrast piping. I'd not seen any pictures of seats with this piping before getting mine, although I've seen at least one today when I was searching. Others clearly don't have it. My sticker simply says Ivory White Ext Merino Leather. So I'm curious: what triggers getting the piping? (I've included a picture below). Is it the leather dash? the exterior color? luck of the draw?

I have the contrast piping on my Merino Ivory Extended leather seats. I also have the leather dash. Did you also notice the additional leather stitching on the side of the center control tunnel? It really pops in the white and so does the ambient lighting on the white.

We have the Tartufo Merino with Leather Dash...no piping. I believe the Ivory might be the only color that has it at the moment.

I believe Ivory is the only color that also changes the lower dash and sides of the seats to non-black.

I've ordered Ivory Merino with leather dash and Phytonic Blue. I'm hoping I get the piping too.

Please photo some photos of your interior and exterior so we can see how the interior/exterior combination looks. I'm sure its stunning. Show us please, please, please!

I think all Extended Ivory Merino has the piping, it is just hard to see in pictures as it sometimes just looks dark like the gap between leather pieces of the seat and also some of the pics are not the extended just the standard Ivory without the piping. Mine has it also although it is also Phytonic Blue like yours so doesn't help for a data point - picking it up Wed hopefully so can get some pics (have just seen it through the window so far.)

MystroX5's thread has some good pics (he is Carbon Black) and if you look you can see the piping, if you are not looking for it though it just looks like shadows in the seams I think.

EDIT: Duh, just saw he posted above - going for more coffee now.

Every Ivory Merino that I have seen (4-5) have had the piping, so it appears to be a standard feature.

First time I saw it, I even went back to some of the video reviews and they all had it.

Look at the M50D model, around 7:53 mark.

I just went to the Build Your Own site on BMWNA and selected the different interiors. Ivory Merino is the only one that clearly showed piping. The other Merino colors did not.

If you do build your own on bmw.ca or bmw.co.uk, they have a much better 360 interior widget that shows the piping very clearly, way better than the US configurator we get.

There are no "wrinkles" in the back seat, when you configure on the UK site.

Garage List
I was at the dealership last Saturday picking up my son's new M2 and beside his was a new G05 in Black Sapphire with Ivory White in Merino leather with ventilated seats. My wife pointed out the piping. It look great!! We have the same G05 on order. Our F15 has the Ivory White but no piping. The G05 seats looks more convertible.

Interested in more pics.

Hi, i was looking at your photo of the side seat and if it ok i had a question as to whether the driver seat side bolster right above the seat controls if its leather or if its fabric?

Thanks

It's fabric.

Reasoning for that is to minimize seat cushion leather abrasion, scuffing, damage, etc against the seat trim seat coverings as you enter and exit the vehicle.

Here's a closer detailed of my ZAEI Merino seat cushion.

mitigates excess tension on the squab and eliminates squeaks/noise between the leather on the plastic.
