Wheel rust

1 year old G05 here.. My wheels seem to be developing rust in the inner rim as shown in the pic... is this easily removable and preventable in the future? I generally use a wheel brush and brake dust remover to clean them.

What you're showing is a pic of the brake rotor and the "hat" that covers the wheel hub. This is BMW's one piece rotor design.

Given the type of material BMW commonly uses, a little surface rust here is not unusual. Often acidic wheel cleaners will contribute to this problem so I highly recommend a pH neutral wheel cleaner and take extra time to rinse brake parts well after washing wheels.

Thanks for the reply! Yes, it seems like my cleaner is acidic and probably made this worse.

Do you think I could use light sandpaper to sand the rust off, then perhaps seal the surface with something like Crystal Serum or some other ceramic coating?
