Android Auto music apps sound quality - 'Fix'
I stated previously that the Spotify & Deezer apps playback through Android Auto sounded quieter and less alive than the same songs playing back through the native Spotify & Deezer apps built into iDrive.
Other said they had the same issue so I am sharing what I did to address this. YMMV, as my issue is particular to Samsung phones running the Samsung 'Sound Assistant' app. There or may not be equivalent apps running on non Samsung Android phones. I wondered whether my phone was influencing the sound on the A.Auto Spotify app. To my surprise it was - I have the Sound Assistant app on my Note 20 Ultra which I use to manage numerous audio settings on the phone, and I had a custom equaliser set-up under 'Sound Quality & Effects'. The equaliser set-up I had was suppressing certain frequencies and that was even effective when playing music via A.Auto. When I changed the equaliser back to normal, the sound via A.Auto was exactly the same as via the native Spotify app. For me at least, this is a big deal as the native spotify app is buggy as hell in my car, and BMW have ended the native Deezer app, so A.Auto was my only hope for a seemingly integrated streaming music experience. |
