All G05/06 use this setup (the other model ranges are following suit as well). Curious if there's an MY21 change that is causing issues.

Hard to imagine that there are this many defective amps, but what do you have to lose? Maybe there was a bad batch.
Mine is supposed to go back in Wednesday after the software update didn't fix it. I may reschedule if we get as much snow as predicted here. |

This problem went on for a bit until it did it when I was right next to a BMW dealer, I took it over and they opened the rear hatch, inside the cubby where the medical kit is supposed it be is the low end amp, it was to hot to touch. They replaced it and have not had another problem |

A previous poster mentioned it was bad RAM. I would let them replace whatever they want to so they can get it working.

Weighing in from the G07 forum where there is a related thread... curious difference in this thread versus what i see with the X7 posts... "hot" seems to be the problem here.
On the X7 posts (mine included) the bass is out when it sits and is cold. e.g. don't drive for 3-4 days+ (thank you Covid) and when i get in my new x7m50i (21 delivered on 11-2-20) i have no base. I drive for a bit.. the car warms up and then i shut it down..open the driver door. lock it... then reverse (unlock, start up, etc.) and it is fixed. I received a courtesy call just yesterday from BMW. Someone who said they were from engineering or manufacturing or some production like role. (versus service) and she asked how i was liking my vehicle. I mentioned this problem and she claimed she had never heard of it. Her recommendation was reboot but said there were no known service issues with Bass. Can't believe that to be true as it is in every forum out there. Kind of frustrated me. I will monitor this. It sure feels (sounds to me) like there is a miss of a connection during the boot up process. Like the bass woofer didn't start up with the rest of the unit. Also note. Mine is a B&W system. I am not an BMW expert like many folks here so i dont know what (or if) i also have HK components when i upgraded for the B&W system. I also had one experience where the FM and Sirius didn't boot up either. It could be related or not. Not sure. Will monitor this going forward and note.. there is a similar thread, as stated, in the X7 forum. |

I knew I had seen a thread covering this. It happened to me tonight. I stopped at friends for a few minutes to drop off a few gifts. When I started the car back up the bass was gone. I stopped elsewhere for a few minutes and when I started the car again the bass was back. I’m hoping this is a one time thing, but I highly doubt that’s going to be the case.

Yep also just happened to me... turned car on... all music was vocals and no bass or sunwoofer of anysort.
Checked amp wasnt hot...... I dont know what seems to be the issue. Is it softwafe [updates to latest foreman said}, is it amp related, or is it ram releated??? |

At first I thought I was the only one with this issue but after reading a couple of threads I'm beginning to think this is a 2021 LCI problem. I got MY21 M550 approximately 3 weeks ago and I knew immediately somthing was off with the sound, My subs aren't turning at all... I just did a lease return on my 2018 M550 and there's a dramatic difference in sound but both cars have the same HK system. I'm bring my car in after the holidays and I guess I'll find out what's going on but after reading all these threads I'm beginning to think they may do a recall. I can't imagine this being a coincidence or a bad batch!

I don't think this is strictly a 2021 issue. Others that own 2019 and 2020 X5/X6/X7's are having the issue as well. On top of that, both the Harmon Kardon and B & W systems are reporting the bass loss problem.

I had it once 2 months ago or so. idrive reboot didn't work. Parked my car and when I came back 1 hour later everything worked again. Since then no loss of bass anymore.
This week the instrument cluster went black during a few seconds when driving Still problems with the sunroof and the 16A - 6A charging limit. I feel like driving a Microsoft car |
