Car will go next week in production. So I think I will stay with the blue ones or I have the risk the car will be delayed again for months (ordered July 2019)
Also the laser lights have some blue in it, somehow it does not match with the red brakes. The blue brakes give some more ease of mind |

Like mentioned by heavyD it matches better with the blue in the laser lights and maybe even with the blue in the BMW logo. I also prefer my blue interior leds. I have to admit that I am color blind and it seems that this make me prefer blue as a color anyway. But anyone is free to chose red calipers if they want. I will be happy for them if they are. Great that there are different options now. |

I saw that on the configurator today as well. I initially got excited, but I just don't think they flow with the car, at least to me. I would have figured they would tie in with the red taillights, but they stick out more than anything. I don't know if it's the blue in the laser headlights, or the fact that it just pops too much (my build is spec'd Black Sapphire with extended Shadowline) but they just don't fit IMHO. I'll stick with the blue brakes.

Not keen on bright red brake calipers for a car that isn't performance oriented. They really stand out, and attract a lot of attention. They work on some cars, but definitely not the X5.
Maybe it will become the new norm, but I like the understated blue on BMW's. |

Remember configurator is not real life. Also they will pop more with black wheels. That is how things work against black.

The blue is nice and subtle. I have them on mine. Black with black wheels, and the blue calipers looks great. Not too flashy. I agree that the red would look a little too flashy and out of place on an SUV.

I just did the BMW configurator..... and didn't see it. I would have absolutely chosen red.
I'm actually thinking about having them powdercoated. Where did you see this? |

It's on the new 2021 order guides. If you've already been allocated a 2020, it's not an option but you have a lot more options on the 2020 that have been removed for the 2021 model year.
