Many thanks. I would love to see the colors and the sound quality as well. Although this will never be as good in a video as in person it will hopefully make me feel better about paying the almost 5K for the upgrade and keep me happy until April 26th when I pick up my M50d.

You cannot record the sound quality and truly experience it from a video. I will show the speaker colors with interior lighting but otherwise, the sound will always be better in person. I might record 1 clip which will fail to do it any justice. Trust me, B&W is worth it. Go listen to the system at your dealer in any model, bring a USB drive with FLAC audio and you'll know right then if it's worth the money

That would be great, try to get a feel for it, I didn't think that a video will do the sound justice, however none of my local dealers have in any car.

a video clip to hear the audio quality is like asking to see a photograph of a steak to see how good it tastes. this is one of those options you have to test in person to make it tangible and decide if it has any value to you.

Sure that’s clear but would be great to see the options for sound settings and the color in the speakers for sure. I have it ordered without testing it out as I was sure it would be worth it. On the 26th April I will pick up my M50d from BMW welt and am just interested to see a video of the B&W in advance.

Here you go. Bear in mind my phone while good cannot capture even 1% of how fantastic the sound system is. Sound was set to 'Stage' due to the song I was playing being a live version.

they match the interior lighting if you unchecked the white button. If both are blue for example the speakers will be blue, if the top is white and bottom is blue the speakers match. Alternatively you can make them static white

You won't regret it! I have B&W also and ordered for the leds primarily too. Now that I have it, the sound is definitely a few levels above the Harmon Karden, particularly with the proper music content.

Have a question regarding the B&W system in X5 .... have heard the B&W system in Volvo XC90 and it was outstanding. Did not get the same feeling on the X5. I played lossless audio via bluetooth on both SUV's. Anyone else done similar comparison? Was looking forward to this system in the X5 but now in doubt.

So if you are into audio enough to actually hear the difference between Lossy and Lossless, I would ask why did you put a file like that and run it on Bluetooth? Bluetooth audio compression varies by codec, this simply could be the difference you are hearing. Best way to actually test this would be using cough yes a CD with the file at 500Kbps on both vehicles. It simply could be how BMW handles the Bluetooth.

With that begin said I for one cannot hear the difference, I'm simply not tuned well enough. I did how ever feel that the B&W sounded louder to me than the HK so I opted for the HK and love it anyway.

I have more than my fair share of seat time in a T8 with B/W audio... I am not sure how you could make a fair comparison between the two systems since the Volvo so full of rattles and squeaks with vibrations from the music that it made the experience lackluster to the say the least. Sheets of DynaMat have to be used on all the panels in the XC90 and felt tape anywhere panels meet in order to mitigate all the unpleasant interference outside of that vehicle's NVH.

Beat me to it. May as well tune into AM news and complain about the lack of bass. If one is truly interested in comparing and making a decision using a factory original CD (not a dub/burn/bootleg) in both vehicles with the EQ set similarly would be the best way to compare.

I think the answer is you cannot go wrong with either..... Simply put do you have the extra money then go for it, I mean why not. If not save a bit you won't be disappointed the X5 doesn't really skimp on anything at all.

Bluetooth is absolutely the worst way to transmit audio wirelessly. Doesn't matter if the source music is lossless or not.
Even on my wife's X5 with just HK the difference is noticeable. Put some lossless FLAC files on a USB stick and then do the comparison. The BW system on my 5'er is remarkable and the G05's is even better.
