Laser Lights

I live in a rather dark area and have seen my auto high beams activate but I can't tell if my laser high beams ever came on. Is there a special indication when they flip from high to laser? I tried manually hitting the high beams and saw 0 difference so I'm guessing they didn't turn on.

There is no indication of laser vs. regular high beam. How fast were you going? They only come on over a certain speed.

I may be imagining it, but I feel like I can see the lasers fade on when they are engaged. For instance, when cruising at 80 mph and the auto high beams cycle on and off when sensing a car... when the high beams re-engage, I feel like there is a very fast but noticeable fade on (vs a typical instant on/off LED).

Were you stationary? They only switch from LED HB to Laser HB above 35-40mph.

55mph. always above 37mph and I've yet to notice a difference. maybe you need to have 0 cars and or whatever else for X time before they do.

I need to drive more at night and see if I can get then to activate. When my HBs come on it's definitely instant not a fade

The biggest advantage is supposedly in distance, but I've was told by my SA the laser lights are hobbled in the states so there is no "effective" difference between them and the LEDs on high. There is a thread about this on here somewhere. Probably why it's difficult to tell if they're on. Maybe some folks outside the states can say how they appear when they kick in?

Excuse my ignorance if this question has been asked and answered? I understand there is a regulatory issue with the laser lights but what does this have to do with the curb/cornering lights?

Absolutely nothing. I'll see if I can tell whether or not my laser lights turn on tonight with some night driving in the middle of this lovely desert.

As a follow up what is the purpose of the "no dazzle" decoding for US vehicles?

Yes basically disables the euro spec function of them so instead of tunneling around cars the headlights dip down to low beams

Thanks, is this under consideration by NHTSA for activation in the US?
