No, all the information I saw before ordering indicated the US would have a reduced version due to approval in the States. I assume once (if) it is approved they can recode it to full power.

I guess I should have been more informed. The first time I saw anything is when my CA sent me a copy of the VIR and I noticed "decoding laser lights".

Well to be fair US regulations don't allow them to operate as intended

I do think we (US) will get it together and we can have the latest technology on our cars. I had never heard of corner lights until this forum so I don’t have a beef about that either, a shame it is an apparent victim of the decoding, perhaps it will also be available in the future.

All said after two weeks, I have had zero problems to date and invent shit to do just to go out and drive it.

If BMW didn't expect the US to approve the laser lights why bother to put them on the US cars? This is crazy.

Question is are we paying full price for crippled hardware?

Good point. We paid for something that isn't working as designed and may never work as designed.

it's part of a package and they still work better than the Adaptive LED headlights. Let's not forget they will be fully enabled once the regulations pass here.

I just picked mine up today with the LLs. Out on dark, back country roads at over 60mph. Meh. I'm underwhelmed. I badly wanted to be excited about them because deer are a huge issue and I really need to light those things up. But I was honestly stretching to detect much of a difference between the LLs and my F15 LEDs.

Kinda feel like they're a waste of money as they sit and hope the regs change and I get some of that spotlighting feature to go along with my night viz (which put a smile on my face. A > $2000 smile, I might add) https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/im...lies/smile.gif

I live in an area with 0 street lights so I agree. I wish they worked better but they're definitely an improvement over my G01 X3's adaptive LEDs

Laser Lights nobbled in the US and the result is loss of cornering lights. So why aren't cornering lights working in non-us locations? Does that mean full laser function has been globally nobbled? Something not right...

Current Australian Ordering Guide - 5AZ BMW Laser, adaptive headlights with illuminated blue ‘X’ icon light featuring LED low-beam, cornering light, daytime driving light and laser high-beam module incl. BMW Selective Beam.

I think they will be able to be coded to full functionality. That’s my hope anyway.

This is why I think it’s a software bug. The more I dig, the more misinformation dealers are being told. I believe we as a forum will probably discover the true reason first. I am taking any thing a dealer says with a grain of salt.

Are there even lights (bulbs/leds) installed and wired up in those locations?

Yes, the LED is there for the cornering light in the laser light assembly. Appears they are not in the regular LEDs even thought the training/tech manual says they should be.

That's what I think as well.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the identical Laser Light available in the U.S. on the 7-series with a working corner light?

7 Series only got laser lights for the LCI 2020 model so no

Current 2019 7 has a functional LED cornering light (tested it in dealer showroom), however they are not Laser Lights. The M850i however DOES have laser lights and a functional cornering light. See video. There is ZERO reason they should not be functional in the X5.

Ah, so it was the 8-Series. Thanks for clearing that up.

This sounds like a temporary issue to me. As you said, there is absolutely NO logical explanation for not enabling it on the G05.

I agree, having them work would be nice as mentioned since I have no real street lights here. I hope they get enabled but I'd rather have full functionality out of my laser high beams first
