I don't believe you get a CEL unless you remove the primary cats (US cars). Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Not sure, on akrapovic's site it says the care will need a tune to avoid the CEL

Yup, this is exactly what I was referring to.

I'm no stranger to tunes and piggy backs, but wanted to know what people were using on this platform. My ECU manufacturing date falls into the "currently can't be unlocked" bracket, so I'm probably stuck with JB4 if I don't want to see an engine light.. I wanted to try out the race chip but apparently they don't defeat engine lights.

On the other hand, electric tape only costs $2..

I dont recall anyone in the US having CEL after installing Akra slip or full evo system (catback).. As others have pointed once you remove primaries this is when you would get a CEL as expected having tampered with OEM cats.

I think we are all talking about 2 different models with 3 different mod options.

Models
1. In the US the secondary cats are not monitored with O2 sensors.
2 Non US, I'm not sure how OPFs are designed and monitored so I will only speak to US models.

Mods
1. Cat back
2. Secondary cat delete
3. Primary and secondary cat deletes

In the US options 1 and 2 should not trigger CEL since there's nothing past the primary cats monitoring the system. The car wouldn't know that anything is changed. Option 3 will for sure trigger CEL and needs a tune.

Below are pictures of my secondary cats that I removed, notice that there's no place for oxygen sensors.

I believe the questions stems from the fact that akrapovic says, on their own site, that you will need a tune with both versions of this system to avoid a CEL.

they prob just didnt want to print multiple IFU's so they put the same statement on both which for US version as we can see from multiple members is incorrect.

Just like HZX mentioned since there is nothing monitoring US secondaries and beyond CEL is not even possible..

This is correct. No CEL will be on if you do secondary cat back, I confirm. If you do primary cats where the OX sensors are you will through a CEL. SOMETIMES!!!!! you can add a extension neck on the catlesss pipe which can trick the sensor to not through CEL but this is not 100%.

Any chance to install full akra in EU model and not get CEL? I wrote many times in forum but so far no experience I think due to OPF while I searched internet and there are a few cables/adapters which trigger OPF to be off and not get any ECU error but I haven't tested or seen someone closer to me with them yet.
