If so, they should communicate us in time. The dealer can proceed with an expedite new delivery

I only heard numbers for Belgium and indeed many total losses due water. No idea why it takes +2 months to know that.

Still no news for my particular car. I sold my car in June when the dealer informed car was ready. Plot twist, it was NOT ready.

I'm waiting on my second X5 as the first one was delivered with reduced power ( SA3 option) due an error from the sales guy. I spotted it during pick-up. Photo is from June 30, 2023

Unfortunately, they can. My dealer told me that the 2023 discount ‘launch edition’ can only be applicable for 2023 registered cars.
They can give a me a small discount on the 2024 price, but it will never match my original offer. Besides a discount, the fiscal price won’t change due to a discount, which drives my monthly cost (lease).
Besides that the CO2 rules in NL will change per Jan 1, which also triggers a cost increase. So I’m impacted anyhow if my car won’t be delivered in2023.
The dealer told me that this is a formal reason for me the cancel the order.

I will check this with my dealer.
Here in Belgium, I signed a renting contract with BMW financial services. I don’t think they can change the price later.
Ordering a new one is no go as the tax advantages are not so interesting for hybrid cars ordered after 01/07/2023.

Curious to understand the outcome, since it could help me as well.

In Belgium: price increases is once the order is signed by both parties. Even when a possible price increasement in stated in the general conditions, it is not legal. There are a lot of jurisdiction about it who state that a delivery term (even in force majeur) can not reflect the price.

As many here seem to be from Belgium. Anyone that has received some kind of commercial gesture proposal (e.g. reduced price short term rent ) ? Or no comms at all ?

Zero. But I will demand something as soon as they say “great news, your car is on it’s way”

For me nothing.

Some people received a replacement car but it depends on the goodwill of your dealer.

Depending on the report provided by BMW concern the actions taken in Germany, you can reject the car or ask for a discount.

Just got an update this morning. They think they are checking the cars for the Belgium market as we speak. From the 30+ affected cars for my dealer, 33% where released today. 90% of the released cars have no or minor damage. 10% where total loss.
Unfortunately, my car still needs to be checked (or fortunately, it’s not a total loss (yet?))

Anybody with an update?

I also received an update from my dealer in NL. They have 25 cars that are impacted, but yesterday they suddenly received 3 cars at the dealer that need a final check (check protocol given be BMW AG) and after that can be released to the customers. So there is some movement.

Most irritating is that they can’t tell me, or don’t know, if all remaining 22 cars are in Germany. They told me that my X5 is probably still in Charleston waiting to be checked, but they don’t know for sure.
If it’s the case that my X5 is still in the US, this means I will never receive it in 2023 due to a minimal transport time of 6 weeks + checks etc.

I don’t think its still in Charleston. I heard (and it’s mentioned somewhere here) that they transported all cars to Germany for QC and all cars that where total loss for sure, where left behind in Charleston.

Any view on what the policy would be for "minor damage" ? Repairs ? Discount ? In the end we are buying a new car and some have lease or financing agreements for the full value of a new car

Yes, that’s what I saw as well and what my dealer told me 4 weeks ago. The issue now is that the car was officially scanned the last time 4 weeks ago and this label shows Charleston as location.
After that no updates visible in the dealer system. And in 4 weeks it could never be transported to Germany.

So my hope is that the system message is not correct, since a lot of things went wrong here anyway…

No idea.
Maybe the dealer can fix something? Worth trying. I know for a fact that 90% of new cars get a dent or scratch during transportation that get fixed before delivery. So you never have a non-repaired new car I think

Getting a different update from my dealer. Whilst cars are being inspected and cleared, they are not going to release them until they are all inspected. In one way I can accept that, since they might find a fault in the later cars they inspect, and then have to recheck what they had already cleared.

This is not correct. I'm aware of blocked cars that have already been delivered to Belgian dealers.
