X5MC Pirelli SCORPION WINTER - SIZE: 315/30R22
I can't find "Pirelli SCORPION WINTER - SIZE: 315/30R22" anywhere, those are for the rear of X5MC. On 23rd they were available in tirerack, today I ordered to find they are gone. Checked every tire place I know of, they all share same message, Pirelli is manufacturing them now and will be available by 23rd January!!!
It just sucks to have a new car that I can't drive, I live in NJ but I drive a lot to up north of Vermont , no way I can drive it there with summer tires. Anyone can help with advise |

FWIW, this is considered late in the season for winter tires. On certain sizes, it can often be nearly impossible to find them late in the season. Winter tires are generally made in the summer so that they're available in the fall, and may stop production by the end of the year so that they can switch that line to summer tires for next summer. Depending on where you are, shipping via boat could take awhile once they actually leave the factory and arrive at retail stores.

i got a call from tirerack few days before picking the car, they found the last pair in Minneapolis . though if you can wait till 1/23 they will be back in stock. Otherwise you need to go to Canada, BMW dealers there have plenty of it

I had a bear of a time trying to get a set. I regret not jumping on them in September when they were still 1600 Euros a set. I ended up getting a "sweetheart deal" from my tire guy, since he felt bad for me and still paid 2600 Euros for the set. Gotta pay to play with 22" winters I guess!

Winter tires are a crap shoot sometimes after maybe as early as November. They are usually only made seasonally during the summer and by winter, that line is often now making summer tires for the next year. If they guess wrong, you're out of luck. Tires, especially winter ones, don't work anywhere near as well as they age since all rubber tires get harder as they age, and won't grip the ice's small imperfections as well or conform to the surface as rubber gets stiffer not only with cold but by age. Winter rubber starts out softer than say a summer tire or an all-season one.

Side note, Has anyone put 285/30r/22 tires on the rear (742M)? A dealer suggested stretching the tire, said they've done it before. I'm not too keen, but thought I'd ask if anyone has experience with this.. |

The dealer put them on. He didn't ask about sizes. I don't think he ven knows. They are on for the second year he didn't have any issues. |
