Here you go.
I modified the blue scheme
with red lower colour and red B&W all around.
But you can change whatever you want

So we need to change some parameters in RAM.

- 3004 (from 1 to 7 scheme)
- 3005 (from 8 to 11)

It almost the same as we did with other lights but the RGB code is located in 3 lines (1R,1G,1B)

So in AMBIENTE_FARBE_ENSEMBLE_6_LAYER_1_R

6 is the blue scheme that we want to change
1 is the place of the speaker (two upper front speakers)

Global it looks like that

RAM
XX_LAYER_3 - B&W (weiss)
XX_LAYER_1 - Hi (weiss/colour)

1_LAYER_(1-6) - bronz
2_LAYER_(1-6) - bronz/weiss
3_LAYER_(1-6) - orange
4_LAYER_(1-6) - orange/weiss
5_LAYER_(1-6) - weiss
6_LAYER_(1-6) - blau
7_LAYER_(1-6) - blau/weiss
8_LAYER_(1-6) - gruen
9_LAYER_(1-6) - gruen/weiss
10_LAYER_(1-6) - viol
11_LAYER_(1-6) - viol/weiss

You should on/off or reboot your i-drive after coding for modification to take place.
Good luck and share your variants

Has anyone figured out what one needs to set to gradually cycle from one color to another such as shown in the 3rd video in the post here: https://g30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...32&postcount=7 For whatever reason this info seems to be impossible to find...

Is it possible to rename the color in iDrive?

Or does everyone live with the factory color names, even after coding a custom HEX color value?

Thanks for this tutorial OP. Much appreciated. Excited to be doing this for my G05. What adapter should I get for a fast connection? Ethernet? Wifi? or Bluetooth?

Ethernet is the fastest.

Thanks for this, can confirm that this works on Bowers and Wilkins systems. It even changes the color of the Bowers and Wilkins logo.

Anybody has a clue for the gradual change effect? It seems to be top secret information

Thanks!

Did bimmercode remove the ambient light option? I don’t have it in any module. 2021 X6M. I just wanted to use the bimmercode “stock” change from bronze to red.

You, Sir, are a legend. At first glance I thought it could only be done via Esys, but they do have the module in bimmercode. Just in an entirely different section called “Receiver Audio Module” my dumb @ss didn’t marry that with the “RAM” you posted above and assumed it meant “random access memory” haha the rest of what you had was verbatim the same in bimmercode. Now me and my Darth Daddy Cruiser (her actual name is Coco) are happy! Thanks a million!

I just had the software update and it undid all my coded changes. This thread is somewhat confusing to a coding rookie. Can someone simplify instructions for how to change my lighting to all red? From there I should be able to figure out other colors. Thanks.

This is my synopsis of the instructions first posted here:

The stock RGB HEX codes are:
  • White - 90, E0, 90
  • Bronze - D7, 6E, 14
  • Orange - 93, 1A, 01
  • Blue - 00, 20, FE
  • Green - 10, FE, 32
  • Lilac - 78, 3C, FE
The byte numbers for the colors GO5G06_Lichtpaket_code1 packet are as follows:
  • White: 3,4,5 - 8,9,10 - 13,14,15
  • Blue: 18,19,20 - 23,24,25 - 28,29,30
  • Bronze: 33,34,35 - 38,39,40 - 43,44,45
  • Orange: 48,49,50 - 53,54,55 - 58,59,60
  • Green: 63,64,65 - 68,69,70 - 73,74,75
  • Lilac: 78,79,80 - 83,84,85 - 88,89,90
The the G05/6 color assignments (i.e., the value that should be in the profile to get each color) are:
  • 00 - White
  • 01 - Blue
  • 02 - Bronze (now red for me)
  • 03 - Orange
  • 04 - Green
  • 05 - Lilac
So, generally, in order to change a color from one to the other, you have to change the values at the bytes listed above to the color that you want. One RGB hex value goes in each byte. If you change all 3 byte triples for the Bronze color to the color value for Red, then everywhere the system thinks Bronze is selected you’ll get Red instead.

Now, how does the system know when Bronze is selected? That’s in the profile, where the colors that you get when you select them in the display menu are determined by two bytes. The first is the bottom color, and the second is the top color. The first two bytes correspond to the first entry in the display menu, which is Bronze. The second two correspond to the second menu entry (Bronze/White), etc. So if you just want to change Bronze to Red you don’t need to do anything. BUT, if you want to change Bronze/White (really now Red/White) to Red/Blue, you’d change the 3rd byte in the profile data from 00 (White) to 01 (Blue).

Changing Colors in Expert Mode
  1. Connect to car, go into Body Domain Controller
  2. Enable Expert Mode
  3. First, change the colors. Go to 360A LicLciColorLibrary
  4. Go to LIC_LCI_COLOR_LIBRARY_DATA
  5. Go to the GO5G06_Lichtpaket_code1 packet. Note, this should have a check next to it. Highlight it and click the custom values down bottom to enter into the bytes section that needs to be modified.
  6. Change the appropriate bytes to new RGB Hex values.
  7. Save your work.
  8. Now, change the profiles that determine where the colors appear. Go to 360DLicLciColorProfiles.
  9. Go to LIC_LCI_COLOR_PROFILES_DATA.
  10. Go to the G05G06_Lichtpaket_code1, select it, then go to custom values at the bottom of the screen.
  11. Change the appropriate bytes to get the color combos that you want:
  12. To make Bronze/White to Red/Blue, change byte 3 to 01
  13. To make Blue/Whte into Blue/Red, change byte 11 to 02
  14. Save your work.
  15. Code the module.

Hope that helps. Coding, of course, is done at your own risk. I'm not responsible for any issues caused by following the above.

You don't need to go into Expert mode to change all the colors to red. Just select the Bronze (default) and change it to red. It's what I did and works perfectly.

Really appreciate both replies. I was able to follow the details better. Your breakdown made things much clearer. I also stumbled across where you can change the default without being in expert mode (after I updated the bimmercode app). Bottom line...got 'er done! Thanks for the help. I'm a simple dude that likes simple explanations in layman's terms. This forum is very helpful.

Yes, I'm aware that you can change bronze to red w/o using expert mode. These instructions are what I have used several times (including last night after the latest update) to set "white/bronze" to "blue/red" and "white/blue" to "red/blue). Which must be done in expert mode.

FYI, there's a typo there at the end. It's not Byte 11, it's Byte 13 that holds the white value for "white/blue". If you change Byte 11, it'll change "blue/blue" to "red/blue". Sorry for any confusion.

That's good and bad news ... the good news is, you can code your speakers to be any color you want. Bad news is, we have to find that module.
You could just leave the speaker color to white in the the infotainment screen rather than the goofy green or what other color that bothers you.
