The current iX (and i4?) has their latest cell tech. If I remember correctly, these are a 5%-10% more dense/powerful over the ones in the 45e. My guess: that is the maximum battery increase we can dream of.

My wishes for the 45e LCI are:
* at least 7kW charging
* stronger electric motors. I find electric mode a bit under powered.
* significant increase of battery size (will not happen, I think)
That's in my list as well.

Latest G05 X5 LCI / G06 X6 LCI info (from future models thread):
  • LCI Production Dates: 4/2023 - 7/2026
  • Models likely almost the same as now, with X6 sDrive40i dropped at least in the US.
  • Refreshed B58 engine (B58 TÜ2)
    • B58 TÜ2 details: 375hp in all currently known applications (G05, G06, G07, G70). The extra power in the M level engine (B58B30M2) comes from a completely reworked intake manifold and a larger turbo. The two port exhaust manifold of the M1 remains in place. Notably (this is my own info again), there are still no traces of the O2 engine - could it be because the O level is being phased out with M level's output now being almost equal?
  • M package becomes standard on X6
  • Ambient Air and Acoustic Glazing will be available
  • X5 will have the illuminated grill like X6 does now
  • Next level driver assist package ("Motorway Assistant")

Looks like there's some sort of round front fog lights unless it's just cladding for disguise?

Strange choice of non-M wheels on this V8 M-sport in the photos... they've got good taste.

Totally agree!! Thats why we still have our 2015 X5d with 138k miles and returns a very nice 31-32 mpg highway and 600 miles plus cruising range. Its ludicrous that BMW builds these X5d here and sends them abroad and we cannot get them.... I am considering the X 5 45e as a replacement because lot of people are saying they are getting great gas mileage on the highways which is important for my work commute so I need to be sure.. Would you be considering this one at all?

This is my wish list as well, along with more aggressive regenerative breaking. The option for one pedal driving would be nice.

BMWBlog had a post few days back about a rumored M750e version above the 745e.

The 745e and X5 45e share the same engine setup at the moment.
So if this rumor turns out to be true, I hope the 50e setup will find it's way to the X5 as well.

I can't recall any recent LCI with no change in rear lights.

Could this not be the real LCI? Maybe just a testing mule?

For a couple of years now it was said there would be very little change to the exterior for the LCI so it is possible these really are pictures of the LCI. Previous pictures attributed to the LCI were definitely just test mules but these likely are it.

The xM press info called out the split headlight design as a differentiator for their premium vehicle line (no offense to the x5 folks) so think 7 series, x7, xM. I would imagine the iX is possible at LCI as well.

Just ignore their first sentence. If I remember correctly they fell for the fake LCI spy shots a year or so ago and had the LCI coming out MY22 at one point.

I think the X5 LCI will be presented similarly to the X3 LCI - 4 years after its premiere. This falls in the summer of 2022. The car will be available for order in September and ready to pick up before the end of 2022 as a 2023 model.

When will the LCI available to be ordered? In a few months or 1 year + few months?

I don’t think so. X7 LCI is model year 23 and so we won’t know officially from bmw until April of 22 with orders starting in august 22.

Hence for x5, add 1 year to similar dates I.e. you will see bmw press release in April 23 with orders in late summer 23 for my 24. X3 LCI was My22 and it followed similar pattern. Can bmw do something different- of course but that is the pattern.

It has been scheduled to begin production on 4/23 for years now and there has been no indication that has changed.

As I understand April is announcements month but the factory shutdown for a changeover happens in summer (June if I remember correctly).

Doubtful that will be the case. It is been scheduled to start physical production on 4/23. Keep in mind, these are global models. There generally is not a changeover period as it depends on the models and the severity of changes. In the case of the X5, the new model year has been starting (for the US) in August.

Edit: I just noticed your post above and I think that is where you are misunderstanding the schedule. The G07 LCI has been scheduled to start 8/22 but you can't base anything for the G05 on that since its LCI has been scheduled to start production 4/23.

G07 X7
- In production until 11/27
- LCI in 08/22. Will get the refreshed B57, B58 and the new S68 engines. The lineup remains the same as now. All models will get the 48V system. The new dashboard is making an appearance.

G05 X5/G06 X6/F95 X5M/F96 X6M
- In production until 07/26 (G05, F95) and 03/27 (G06, F96)
- LCI in 04/23. Models likely almost the same as now, with X6 sDrive40i dropped at least in the US. Will get the refreshed B58 and the new S68 engines. M package becomes standard on X6. Ambient Air and Acoustic Glazing will be available; X5 will have the illuminated grill like X6 does now.
