Thanks. You do not sound very enthused about the amount of extra power though.

LOL! Yes, I do like the power. As soon as I had the car delivered, I was installing it, so it seems normal to me.

Strike One - have to find another shop
Well, I went to a mechanic that can do custom exhaust, but think they got a little cold feet. They were unsure about the flapper, and removing the exhaust insert in the bumper. 1. They were thinking if they removed the flapper, it would through an engine code. I was pretty sure it would not, but wanted to confirm. 2. To remove the exhaust insert, they were thinking it was part of the heat shield as well, so thought they had to drop the bumper to remove it all? Also thought the bumper would melt if the removed the shielding?

1. No codes when removed. 2. Everything there can be removed pretty easily if you know what you are doing. The exhaust insert is part of the bumper that can be taken off easily when the car is on the lift. The heat shield is not a part of it. Removing the bottom plastic covers makes it easier to reach.

Hey, would you mind sending me video of how your car sounds like? (none of the links of your exhaust sound you posted are working), I have the same model as you 2019 x5 50i with resonator deleted and valves permanently opened, and latest update. I have a feeling mine doesn’t sound as good as yours. |

Here are my thoughts on different setup and I'm still testing other options.
1st Video: I first started with resonator deleted with straight pipe, flaps opens. 2nd Video: Then I added Active Catted downpipes to the mix above. Cold start went louder and more raspy from 3k to 5k RPM. 3rd Video: Then I went yesterday and changed the resonator/straight pipe for an X pipe. Now cold start is quieter than stock actually, I haven't hear it well yet on the road but its just a little better than stock. not happy at all. 4: Now, I'm thinking on putting back the stock resonator and I thing it will yield better sound than the X pipe with DPs as the US resonators are 2 straight pipes together with baffle holes. 1st Stock DP + Straight Pipe 2nd AA Catted DP + Straight Pipe 3rd AA Catted DP + X Pipe 4th AA Catted DP +Stock resonator back https://youtube.com/shorts/uaHf5HyUR4s

We’re all three with muffler deletes as well? The first video reminded me of a mercedes engine m278 or m157 AMG with: DP Xpipe resonator delete straight pipe with muffler delete

And the best so far, at lease for me is with the AA catted DP and stock resonator back. The X pipe didnt really improved anything. Video coming soon.

That’s why I was asking, when I see straight pipe and resonator delete I assumed it was muffler delete since many in the MB forums would post that way. Sounds killer though, and curious what a resonator delete with Xpipe and muffler delete would sound like. Love the driver feel of a BMW, but miss the raw Mercedes biturbo V8 sound. If I can obtain that then the best of both worlds.

Google says so. "A resonator delete can also reduce your engine efficiency. It affects the back pressure of the exhaust gases, which may amount to more fuel consumption." I'm also in Sydney, I'm tempted to remove the resonator or muffler. |

X5/X6 M50i is a 3.8-3.9 second 0-60 vehicle.
There is absolutley no way in hell a resonator delete or a Catback system reduces that to a 3.5. Ain't happenin. 3 or 4 tenths when you are already under 4 seconds is HUGE. |
