bimmercode coding options for LCI?
I’ve searched around the forum but didn’t get any definitive answer for exactly what can be coded using bimmercode on 24 G05/G06.
People have been saying that mostly all ECUs are locked and have cloud/server secure coding but there’s no information on if anything can be coded at all? Bimmercode website doesn’t list MY24 as supported at all but I wanted to see if some stuff can still be coded. I have gotten the dongle (which I can return if nothing can be coded) but the app seems like it’s not refundable. I just wanted to see if anyone else has tried coding 24s and what functions are available. |

My perception has been that ID8 has all but closed the door on the BMW coding experience. I know the coders are "working on it" but with ID8.5 due out for 2024 X5s +X6s any day now, and ID9 on some Xs (X1 + X2), I expect that BMW will be moving to bolt and lock that door forever. Especially so, considering the backend server validation requirement for iDrive updates/changes, which they essentially already had in place for ConnectedDrive store purchases. Just my 2 cents ...

FWIW, their website does not list the LCI as a supported vehicle. You might want to send them a note, but if you can borrow a setup, it shouldn't hurt to try it and see.
They typically don't update the webpage until they can get their hands on a vehicle and see what works or doesn't, so if you try, you're playing experimenter. If they do eventually list it as supported, they'll include a list of what your options are. |

I really hope they figure out how to code for the LCI. Top of my list is getting rid of that stupid assisted driving plus warning.

You can adjust the volume on many things with simply the volume control if you do it WHILE the thing is happening (like nav instructions, phone calls, etc.). Some may take a menu access.

Below is straight from the Bimmercode Master himself.
Thanks for getting back to us - we are working on compatibility but cannot promise a timeline yet, since the new control units are quite restrictive in terms of coding. -- Kind regards / Schöne Grüße Sven Straubinger - Lead Developer |

its going to be very difficult for them, the files needed for coding the new cars are just not available anymore.

Got a Carly on my G05 and not much you can code.
The diagnostic are interesting I have 45+ issues so send it to service. It can back with all ready to go, first thing I noticed was the CarPlay was not connecting. I then ran a new diagnostic and now on 35 issues !!! My question to the service advisor was how do you think it is going? They do not like you run a diagnostic and question what they are doing. Oh we topped up the coolant and gave you new wipers!! Yeah but you didn't fix the DSC sensors front and back... I got the Carly for playing coding, but it turned out to be a very good tool for checking if the car have issues and it get fixed. Going to service for the 3rd time in 3 months. Bimmercode or Carly get one and run diagnostics so you know the status of your car. -before and after service, regardless how old your car is.

Hopefully they can sort some magic. Fully understand why they would. Think they are installing options in cars then they are giving customers access with subscription. But when you purchase the top model that includes everything pity they don't leave unlocked. I've bought and used in three other cars with cool changes, was hopeful to use in my new car coming before finding out the world of coding had changed. |

OP with an update - I bought the OBDLink CX adapter and bought Bimmercode app to try out whether ANY coding is possible on LCI X6.
The adapter won’t even connect to the app. I tried multiple times with diagnostic mode, the ignition in various states etc. and it still won’t connect. I saw the lights on the adapter flash but at the end, the app would throw out an error saying it cannot connect. I did try using the app that came with the adapter and it worked just fine, so I believe that the adapter was not defective and the process I was following to connect was good. If anyone else had any luck connecting, please let me know. For me, like Orient330iNYC said, it won’t even connect maybe since the car is not supported. |

bimmerlink is using bmw proprietary protocol to read bmw diagnostic codes. and they shut that out when they shut out bimmercode. i havent tried ISTA+ yet but i suspect that will still work.
