Screen dims too much at night

I recently noticed that my X5's iDrive screens (gauge cluster and middle screen) dim way too much at night. When I unlock the car, the screen is at its normal brightness but then quickly dims way too much. It recently just started doing this and I have no idea what is causing it.

Any ideas? I don't think I pressed any buttons and the "brightness at night" slider is maxed out all the way.

I have iDrive 7, MY 2022

I’m not familiar with a “brightness at night” slider that relates to the internment cluster. can you post a photo? the only setting I’m aware of that adjusts lights during night driving dims the ambient (interior) LED lighting at night, though it’s not a sliding adjustment

if you’re referring to the brightness adjustment in iDrive, that’s not “nighttime only” AFAIK; it’s an “all the time” adjustment. the physical wheel on the lighting panel (next to your knee) is also an “all the time” adjustment

refer to those settings and report back. if they appear kosher, then you may have dimming sensor(s) issue (there are two of them, one on each side of the instrument cluster)

I think he is referring to the adjustment "wheel" in the lighting cluster that is used to adjust the brightness of the IC, control display and buttons.

You guys saved the day... I didn't even know there was a scroller wheel like that in the lighting panel LOL

The issue is now fixed, thank you so much
