How to play USB music?

hi, on 2024 X5, how do I play music on USB drive? I put bunch of mp3 files on a usb drive, plugged in to usb port next to cup holder, nothing happens. I navigated in iDrive 8.5 search through those preloaded apps, unclear to me where I need to go to see USB content.

Can someone give a brief instruction on this?

I don't have 8.5 but this is from the Nav/Ent/Comm manual.
