- Joined the forum prior to getting the 50E. My mileage is 3925 miles. Ordered in June and delivered in late September

Whether or not you have had an issue with your 50e
- Glitches with iDrive 8.0 and 8.5

If you had an issue(s), what was it
- Assisted driving restricted twice which was resolved by stopping the car and restarting

- Instrument cluster going dark except for the speed display 3 or 4 times. I needed to stop and start the car a few times to correct. My default cluster display is the map

If you had an issue(s), did you go to the dealer.
- Have not been to the dealer

Only tangentially related, but seems to me there is likely a bias towards under-reporting for two reasons: (1) people want to downplay what they fear could be a problem car - very natural thing to do, and (2) if it becomes widely reported that there is a disproportionate issue (like over 40% reporters have CEL), then could be a real-world impact to value of a pretty expensive piece of hardware.

Good point. I agree with this.

Those are possible, but would also counter that folks without an issue have less impetus to report since things are fine. People with an issue want to be heard by someone due to the frustration they have. That would be similar to the forum bias where people tend to seek out forums and say they have a problem at a much higher percentage than folks who do not.

Joined before. Took delivery in June 2023.

Almost 10,000 miles now.

CEL came on last week in the freeze. Not other errors so continuing to dive it. CEL light still on. Goes in for scheduled maintenance next week and will have them check it then.

I wonder what happened to members who marked “has/had issue” and didn’t mark “went to dealer”.

Does it mean the CEL kind of went away? Or they just keep driving with CEL?

It seems for the most part it goes away and if it doesn't then they go to the dealer.

06/2023: CEL on a brand new 50e, took it to the dealer, sat down ~2 months there, got it fixed and then got a replacement 50e on 10/23. 0 issues with the replacement so far, 1,600 miles.

50e problem survey

Joined forum before delivery. Car delivered in October. Had a drive train malfunction and CEL at @160 miles. Both went away. Did not go to dealer. No problems since at >6000 miles.

Updated first post with recent data. Numbers holding pretty steady at this point. Given the number of responses we are getting they are not likely to move much.

I had a drive train and CEL coming up each once. At the next engine start they were gone. Called roadside assistance. They remote checked the car and didn’t see any serious code and thought it was an erroneous message. The last one was early October.
Since then and after the iDrive update no more messages. Before the update I lost Drive Assist features for an hour or so. I had to reboot sometimes multiple times during a longer trip.

I am now at almost 9000 miles and have not been at the dealer.

I will post what they say when I go in for oil change this coming week. They are also taking care of the fuel evaporation sensor that came out a while ago. Sorry - probably not the right term for it, but the notice I rec'd is in the car and I don't have it handy.
