Leather seat worn, 40000 km x5m

I got this used 2021 x5m f95 not long ago with 40000km on it. The leather of the driver side seat is already not looking good
.I can feel it that every time I get in the car, my ass is crushing this spot(edge of the seat)before I can seat properly, due to the bucket shape.
Guess that’s how the previous owner did it.
Any suggestions? Leather lotion? My sales says it’s normal wear and tear which is not covered by warranty.
I’m Appreciated for any suggestions!

That side of the seat takes a lot of abuse, that leather has obviously never been taken care of and has dried out.
I use Weiman leather care on all my leather car seats, indoor furniture etc. and it has worked well for me.

That leather looks dry to me. I’ve had really good luck with with Sonax cleaner and cream - twice a year for me keeps the leather clean and looking supple. I still get slight wrinkles from wear but no cracking or color loss.

My bmw salesman had a good suggestion that may or may not help. I set my memory 1 button as low as the seat will go and then my memory 2 button at my comfortable driving position. I find that this limits my ass to bolster contact while getting into the car.

Classic BMW high grade leather wear. Keep moisturized with conditioner and consider ceramic for leather

All outer bolsters take a beating....one must -scooch- when exiting and entering.
No amount of conditioner will address the abrasion it takes on the outer bolster depending on physical contact.

IMO, don't coat the leather with a coating. You can try redying it so that color blends in the cracks but it might be a mismatch for the other areas. And if you're OCD, you also want to not get close to the stictching so that color is the same and consistent.

Don't ceramic coat you naturally dyed leather...
It's not coated color. It's dyed
While ceramic is great for situations like preventing heavy jean dye transfer, it also needs to be mechanically -abraded- should you want to remove the ceramic off the leather. Not the best thing to choose IMO.

You would be amazed at what a detailer can do that specializes in Leather.
It can be made to look new again and then you have the renewed opportunity to keep the bolsters looking new.

Try searching for a video on YouTube

Hope you are able to get it sorted

They really take a beating if you wear denim.

I mainly wear suits/scrubs-never denim and my outside bolsters look great after 22K miles.

I use the BMW leather conditioner, super easy to appy and doesnt smell. Use it like once a month on the seat bolster, center console arm rest and the little winglets on the top part of the seat- behind them. The leather tends to crease when you are pushing into it with your back.

Good info here.

https://www.bmwblog.com/2019/12/23/k...ather-options/

This is the coating my PPF installer and detailer recommended for DIY interior leather including dyed.

My sakhir x3m seats look similar after 40k miles. You can get the seats airbrushed but I'd suggest a clear over that and it will hopefully stay decent for a bit. I'm ceramic coating my x5m seats hopefully they stay in better shape. I do wonder if ceramic coating seats do you still hydrate them with cream?

I applied OEM leather lotion and waited 1 day.
Looked same. I guess it's actually cracked...

Many other luxury vehicles will do this as a standard when you put the car in “P” and turn off the ignition… (raise the steering wheel and retract the steering column length, driver seat height all the way down and even slides seat 3-6 inches back)

This is similar to your leather, but older car.
Excellent results.
Swisswax makes high quality stuff.
In worst case scenario visit professional detailer.

I also feel like the left-side edge stuffing has lost its shape. It starts to hurt my left butt.....I'm talking to BMW to get them fixed, or replaced if possible. The previous owner must be crushing it so hard..

I don't see how BMW would cover wear and tear on a 3 year old car.

On previous generations of BMW vehicles one could code "comfort exit" and the seat would go back as far as programmed to assist the driver in exiting the vehicle with minimal wear on the seat and strain. I haven't been able to find it on the G05 or F95 but perhaps someone on here could assist and let us know if it is possible.
