45e highway mpg
Just wondering what kind of mpg people are seeing on long highway drives (especially when the battery has depleted). The 45e’s battery range will be perfect for my daily use, but once or twice a year if I drive cross-country and don’t charge overnight at hotels, I’m wondering what kind of fuel economy I can expect. I know the US EPA rating is 20 mpg combined, but they don’t list a highway estimate. I didn’t see this topic discussed before when I searched... what kind of numbers are people seeing?

Same here around 23-24 mpg. Strongly depending on the mood of the right foot.
In Germany on the Autobahn it will be much worse. But seeing your location you will probably not be driving there. |

Use of the cruise control can help as it will minimize the minor speed up/slow down you'd get when just using your foot.
Around LA, you'd likely see a lot of stop and go. The vehicle is heavy. Once it's going, it's not bad. Lots of stop and go, no vehicle is great. If you expect a lot of stop and go once you arrive, and can't plug in, there is a mode that will let you charge the batteries with the engine. |

Seeing the same too.
I guess highway mpg doesn't depend as much on weight if you're not speeding up and down too much. It's more about aerodynamics so for longer distances the 45e and 40i should have similar mpg since they share the same ICE. |

It's good to hear it'll do decent highway mileage if you're cruising though. The M3 did about 400 a tank on a long road trip and it sounds like the X5 will have no problem doing that or a bit more on a long trip. |
