Crystal knob?

Is it possible to replace the existing gear shift knob with the crystal knob? This is the only regret I have not getting at the time!

No, I don’t believe so. There was a post talked about it. Once ur car is assembled (assuming that’s how u order ur car from ground up) there is no turning back.

Sure, might be a costly upgrade after the fact. Here's the disassembly info.

I've posted this before in a different context, but this seems cheaper, is available in multiple colours including blue, pink, and, of course, clear faux crystal, and is indicated as compatible with G05 X5. An option?

Is there a battery-powered version, or perhaps powered by USB-C?

The BMW tech at my dealership said some have requested to change out from the crystal knob. When the sun hits the crystal, it can be bothersome. Maybe those that have it can chime in.

Very little sun in Portland They would work here in upstate NY, we go for weeks without sun, in fact we are rated in the top 10 cloudy/overcast areas in the US year after year. However, I sat in an X5 at the dealer, it was one of their demo X5's and it had the glass pkg, I looked down at the shifter and admired it till I saw a myriad of finger prints on it and know that would drive me nutz...and for that reason, I'm out.

Definitely not much (any) sunshine to speak of in the winter, but we've had a dry and relatively sunny spring and now summer. No issues with crystal glare from me!

Living in TX I sometimes get reflections off the knob in my face but it's very rare. I love the look (ladies do too ) plus it makes the interior feel so much nicer

I have to admit, after looking at it and then going back to look at mine, mine is boring, drab and well, sorta blah

How much does it cost?
I’d like to see it installed on someone’s car.

If it is cheap, I’d try it and just remove it when it gets dirty or you get tired of it.

Personally, I love crystal but didn’t consider it for the car because I thought it was a little goofy, and like Marty said, might look dirty all the time. If I could get some sort of removable substitute I’d try it.

Heading to Amazon now ....

It doesn't look dirty all of the time. I wipe mine off with a microfiber cloth every so often and it looks pristine. By every so often I mean whenever I use it I like my car to look immaculate inside/out as much as possible. I also keep a swiffer hand duster in the door because I'm a little crazy

Looks less dirty than the piano black shifter on my G30 which shows all fingerprints. Also, no reflection issues in the Southern CA sun...

I really like the looks of piano black on just about anything. I have a set of speakers that are finished in piano black, don't laugh but I wax them Our GTi has piano black on the dash and center console.. ..

but....it drives me nuts cause you see every spec of dust. We keep an eyeglass cleaning cloth in the car just for that purpose, works well on the large display screen as well. For some reason, the floor mats can be dirty, the rearview mirror and windshield are dirty but when I get in the GTi, the first thing I see is the dusty piano black!

I guess if I had the glass controls, I would have to drive with a cloth glove on my right hand

He expressed regret at not ordering the 'CraftedClarity' option. I'm making it clear that not everybody likes it. May have made him feel better. Why you'd be offended because someone doesn't like it, I do not know. If you like it then that's all that matters.

Saying not everyone likes it is one thing, describing it as "hideous" is another. That's your opinion, albeit a very polarizing one.

I agree with you that it isn't for everyone, so let's leave it at that.
