What happened to AndroidRobot?
I was one of the early G05 purchasers... Week 49, 2018 (2019 Model)... Took delivery of my G05 Dec 20, 2018
There were others along for the "early adopter ride" on this forum, that posted their early experiences - like, AndroidRobot. He was a prolific contributor to this forum and on the "type A" side of the scale. Where did he go? Last post was in January after posting almost daily for a year... |

It has been awhile since I last spoke to him. There was quite a bit to document with the G05 initially. We exchanged a lot of notes via PM.
On a similar note, I have noticed a lot has changed in one year with iDrive 7 for 2020 models since early 2019 and we seem to be more consistent now with firmware upgrades. There is a hardware difference between 2019 iDrive 7 and 2020 iDrive 7. How that affects the newer firmware upgrades between the two remains to be seen. Not sure why early iDrive7 have not got the upgraded assisted driving view on the instrument display screen. Seems like it’s long over due?? Last edited by MystroX5; 08-28-2020 at 09:59 PM.. |

Was thinking the same today. I finally received the OTA 11/2019.70 update last week and had to redo my coding. I had to add ADV back and wondered why BMW are withholding that AND why they haven't offered driving assistance pro (vs plus) to us early adopters... [Edit - also "Active PDC with braking interv"]

There was a bit of trolling and back biting going on back then by certain members. Looks like that's behind us now, eh? Android Robot was a good guy. Had a lot of issues with his 50i though and I quote one post - "I swear this thing is trying to kill me". Word is he's been seen ripping the high plains of west Texas in a Porsche. |

In general I've found the G05 forum members much calmer and "mature" than the G20 forum members.

I am active all over different vehicles. The G05 and G07 forums have settled down to a good bunch of people. The M forums still get a few insecure owners trying to prove anything and everything. It gets tiresome.

Me too. Am trying to get into a Z4, my new toy, not a daily driver. Unlike when I bought my X5 and got a slew of discounts and rebates BMW is offering few incentives and not much in the way of discounts.
Back to AR...with this Covid thing going on you just never know. Texas is a hot spot for it, mainly south in the valley. |

I liked AndroidRobot. I'd poke him every once in a while but he was into it and was part of the early adopter group that helped make it easier for future G05 purchasers. Hate to see people like that walk away out of frustration....
....unless he purchased something else and is in another forum hammering away. |

I wouldn't be surprised. My impression watching his posts over time was that he went from loving his car (and even seeing past things others were complaining about) to hating it and having a heck of a time with his dealership and BMW corporate.

I realized I never replied to this, so I wanted to apologize. I was overseas supervising a project in the Middle East earlier this year, I came back and was laid off. I decided to take a break from the forums for a few months to keep my sanity before getting a new job. Now, I'm a bit busier than before but I still try to post on here. If anyone needs something please don't hesitate dropping me a DM. I appreciate everyone's concern! This is a great community and by far my favorite in the car world. I will be getting another BMW, just not an X5. I plan on ordering a G80 M3 Comp with M-X Drive when ordering opens up

thank you, I have missed being in here after reading through things. this is a great community full of awesome people with the occasional less than ideal one thank you, I've been doing some research and since I'm currently working in an entirely different industry its been fun yet time consuming. I plan to go back to my industry or a similar one once things start to recover a bit more.
