2021 X5 Xdrive40i
Placed an order on 2021 X5 Xrdive 40i in the last week of Oct. After about six to seven days, the online status changed to "Scheduled for Production". It does not say when, firm or tentative. Contacted the dealer, and they reported seeing the same status through their system.
Hoping to have my vehicle delivered before Thanksgiving. Fingers crossed. |

Give Genius a call and they can tell you what week it is scheduled to be built (your dealer should also know) and the exact day as it gets closer.
Congratulations. Good luck, enjoy and be safe. |

I doubt you'll get it by Thanksgiving, unless you're somewhere on the east coast and therefore closer to the factory in Spartanburg.
You should definitely call your dealer and ask for your production week. I am still status 112 and I'm scheduled for Week 47 (week of 11/16), you would need to be status 150 or higher in order to get your vehicle this month, as even once production is completed it can take a few days for you to get a shipping carrier for transport, and then the time for it to make it to your dealership. My guess is you're status 112 and probably 1-3 weeks out before production begins, and your dealer can tell you all of this. More info about order status and stuff is here: https://www.bmwblog.com/2009/07/14/h...d-to-delivery/ |

Good information, folks, thanks! I am a complete newbie in this area and I appreciate your help. This is my first bimmer and I am pretty excited. @TurtleBoy suggested to call Genius, had no clue who the genius was was going to ask but then found it in the link posted by sand99. Nonetheless, I am in Houston, TX and I have my production number. I spoke with my dealer rep today and he said he is seeing quicker processing of orders lately. There were few vehicles that they (the dealer) had custom ordered and were not expected until the end of Nov, however they were delivered yesterday. He was pretty optimistic about pre-TG delivery. Will call the Genius line tomorrow and see if I get any different information.
Thanks again, happy Bimming |

Checked the production status this morning, and received the same automated message - "Your vehicle is scheduled for production with no confirmed production date yet". It has been sitting at this status for about 6 days now.

Stay on the line and talk to the representative. You'll be given an estimated production week (it's fairly accurate).

your dealer will give you a production number if you have an allocation. If you have a production number your dealer will be able to give you a build week (estimated time of start of production). build weeks can changed based off various situation but BMW sets those not your dealer. Once the car starts production you are looking at 5-8 weeks till its at your dealer

if you buy from a east coast dealer you can lock in for 60 days west coast dealers 90 days. You have to take delivery of the car within that time frame in order to have the option. Once the time frame runs out and you dont take delivery you will have to re up again and the clock starts over. each time your credit will be run

We put in our order for the same model on October 17th. It probably took about 5-7 days for the VIN and the 'Scheduled for Production' stage. Then another 5-7 for it to actually begin production. When I called the automated line, it would say the stage and then when it was expected to be completed (Nov. 3rd). It went through about 5-6 stages in a single night to be completed on time. It is now awaiting carrier assignment and the dealer said we should have it next week. So if we can get it by the 14th of November, that'll be exactly 4 weeks.

NavyGimp - awesome, that's pretty fast progress.
I spoke to a Genius today, and he indicated that mine is tentatively scheduled for production in week 49. But, he also said that during holidays they ramp it up and the dates may move earlier. Fingers and toes crossed. |

congratulations on your new car. i got an X6 myself, i'm in NYC so i'm probably closer to the factory than you are. here is a timeline of my build:
October 8th: Placed order at dealer. picked options, did credit check, blah blah blah October 13th: made adjustment (red brake calipers instead of blue and added spare tire) October 14th: "scheduled for production" October 19th: "production begins". VIN issued (BMW genius said the car is schedule to complete on Nov 1st) October 29-30th: Car manufactured and dispatched from the factory November 1st: Car arrived at dealer November 3rd: Delivered. i could have got it earlier, but my SA was off on Monday. I hope that helps you sleep better at night. lol. don't do what i did and compulsively check the build status. the website is a little behind. here is a pic of my baby: |

Hi Folks, need your input. My current order X5 XDrive40i is Exterior Phytonic Blue Metallic and interior Black Vernasca Leather with Anthracite brown. I still have time to make alterations to the selection, and I am thinking of Coffee Vernasca Leather as an interior. What do you all think? I love the black interior but I think black leather with anthracite brown may look a little gloomy. Appreciate your input.

Update: Car is at the dealership today. We're getting the driver and passenger window tinted to match the back and the stage 2 mask. It sounds like they're pretty understaffed with Covid, but we might be getting it tomorrow. Saturday at the latest! Pretty excited! |

Congrats NavyGimp glad to hear you will be driving it home tomorrow and can enjoy it over the holidays. Our order officially went in today for a week 50 production. Gonna be an agonizing wait.
If I can ask a question what is the “Stage 2 Mask” you mention. Is that some sort of paint protection film? |

Good to know about the holiday thing. If the incentives are better in December, that would be a great early Christmas gift for sure. |
