I am about to accept delivery of my X5 M60i with 2 axle air suspension.

Upon inspection, I found that it does not have front suspension control arm dampers. You can see in the picture that there's only the empty hole to fix it.

Is this normal? Are dampers not part of the air suspension?

Or is the build missing parts?

Has anyone added dampers to the air suspension, how did they work out?

What wheels do you have on your M60i?

In pre-LCI models, dampers only came with the 22” wheel options.

My 2021 xDrive 40i with 20" wheels and 2 axle air suspension has the dampers from factory. I do have the 3rd row and tow package as well if that matters. I have yet to see a definitive "trigger" that determined if a specific X5 came with these from factory.

My 2020 M50i had them installed from the factory, w/ 21" 741's.....maybe a Canadian market thing (22" only)?

Hi Joe, my M60i w/ 2 axle air did NOT have them installed from the factory, so my local dealer installed them for me, per my request.

I had a horrible resonance, or drumming sound that would not go away, which was driving me insane.

Installing the dampers has completely eliminated the noise, and I couldn't be happier.
