BMW nav question

I have a 2024 50e with iDrive 8. I use CarPlay and Waze 99% of the time, but a couple of times I’ve tried launching the BMW navigation to check it out and see what it looks like in the HUD. But when I click on the nav, I get the “Starting Navigation System…” message and the spinning BMW nav logo but nothing else and the navigation itself doesn’t launch. I have not been able to get it to launch once. In the drop-down menu for the shortcuts on the top-right of the screen (where there are the mini-widgets), the nav icon also says “off”.

I’ve checked the places to see if a setting is off or something is checked that should be unchecked, but unless I’m missing something obvious (which is entirely possible), I’m not seeing it. A quick search didn’t appear to reveal a similar issue, and I emailed my sales associate, who seemed befuddled and offered to set up a service appointment. Later this month, I do need to get a Virginia inspection sticker, and I will ask my Virginia dealer to look at the nav issue if it’s not resolved by then. Again it’s not mission-critical for me since I’m mostly in the CarPlay ecosystem and Waze for navigation, but I thought I would check here for potential solutions or advice. Thanks in advance.

I had the same issue after delivery a couple weeks ago. It will need a service center reset... apparently they get a code from BMW, perform a reset and then it has to sleep for a couple hours. It took about 3 hours from drop off to pick up, loaner to go out for lunch... CA gave me a free tank of gas (needed 3/4) for the trouble less than a week after delivery.

Service said they'd seen this a few times.
