Wow these are crazy numbers that im seeing here. I guess its a good thing that USA has such cheap fuel compared to rest of the world - hence V8's are so popular i guess.

I have a 30d in Europe and converted economy to US MPG is 22 city 39 highway

I would guess maybe only 20 miles or so. Unfortunately the combination of Chicago traffic and it being Winter has not provided much of an opportunity.

At my age i don't give a dam about tickets . Haven't had a ticket in 40years.
I was thinking about my post and thought i should clarify. My numbers were reflective of my mileage based on my driving.I think this vehicle is capable of getting acceptable mileage. In eco mode the car definitely gets neutered and as such i would think 20 or better.
I didnt want to sway anyone from this car based on my hot-rod driving.

only 15 mpg for 90% highway?.... Sigh, the sticker says 22 mpg highway, 16 mpg city. Do you drive mostly on sport plus?

I have an 02 Mercedes ML55 (which I drive when my S5 Cab is stored for the winter), have had it since 04 and am looking to replace it. The X5 M50i has been my #1 choice. I don't expect great mileage from such a super-powerful V8, but always get about 16MPG, when I fuel up that old 5.5L, unless I drive highway only at which time I do better. I appreciate the real world mileage being shared in this string, so I will know in advance not to expect better than what I am getting now. I know the upgrade in every other way will be exponential and my wife's X5 35d gets 26MPG with every fill up, so I guess it will all even out.

Just took mine on an 800 mile road trip. 95% highway, and I was getting slightly better than 20mpg in adaptive mode.

Mine is around 2000 miles and I drive mostly in the city. MPG was almost below 13 at one point but after 7-8 hours of high way driving now it's around 15.

Do you guys always put 93 in your tank? I do.

15mpg since factory 4790 miles this is my wife driving 95% of the time. To compare previous x5m e70 with tune dp , exhaust would barely get over 11mpg similar driving style. Daily about 25 miles on hwy 80-85 heavy right foot

I just get the best gas available in any gas station. Not sure about the difference, Mobil, shell v power, Exxon 93 etc

Remember that the octane rating doesn't relate to better gas or more power, it's simply the formulation that prevents spontaneous combustion under higher compression or higher temperatures. The only reason anyone could get more power is if the gas in their geography does not blend ethanol in with the highest octane.
BMW recommends 91 AKI but it has nothing to do with better power.

Could affect mpg if you use low octane fuels (lower than recommend) because the computer will adjust the air fuel ratio to prevent knocking.

These numbers are really low. I fully get the V8 spirited driving side, but they're just low. Can't wait to see what I get.

Current F80 M3 and get 23 mpg with 90% highway. Not comparable, but never struggled to get near the sticker even with plenty of fun.

Anyone seen any comparisons to published for 40i or X5M ratings?

I think for me its the great sound from the exhaust that keeps me putting my foot in it.When my wife and i go places we drive her audi q7 and its no slouch but i find my self driving at or below speed limits with real gentle takeoffs .Thats just me. Like i said before i think this rig could get good mileage in eco mode and driven conservatively .I just cant seem to do it.

Vehicle is a 2023 X6 M50i
Racechip GTS Black installed
93 octane

1st picture is from inception. The picture is showing you I was in ECO mode because I wanted to see the gas mileage on a long trip (512 mi, and forgot to reset the trip). Most of the mileage is city driving, and averaged 16.8 MPG.

2nd picture shows the MPG from the reset. Again, in eco mode (both car and racechip) to see what kind of mileage I would get. Thought I could do better than 20 MPG, maybe 22.. LOL

The numbers you guys are posting, like 15MPG, are pretty much what I'd expect based on comparisons I was doing between the M50i and the xdrive40i (which I ended up buying).
At 15MPG - 16MPG, you folks are getting roughly 330 miles per tank? Pretty sure I can get about 440 miles on the highway in the xdrive40i.

Though sometimes I wonder if I should have gone with the 50i just for fun...........

I just came from a X5 40i, and you will get around 20 MPG. Good car, but I had to make the switch for fun
