Remote upgrade

On the Nov 2021 version - which works great and has some minor Bimmercode tweaks. Just got notification that 3/23.67 is available. I’m afraid to update, as I’ve heard that my Bimmercode options will go away - and that it cannot be coded back.

Any thoughts or confirmations on that?

I upgraded to 03/2023.50 back in June and have been able to re-code all my previous ones. the main code notably affected by the 03/2023 update is the ASS which I didn’t do, so it didn’t concern me. if you have other codes within the same module as the ASS, then it’s likely those won’t code as well (unconfirmed)

I just updated my '22 X5 40i to 03/2023.67. My new Z4 arrived with 03/2023.50 from the factory. The big change is that the ECU is locked so coding with Bimmercode or others won't work on that module.

My Z4 is not a mild hybrid and still has the ASS button. I could not code ASS off or to remember last state. So I had to do what I did on the X5 which was to code it to default start in Sport Individual mode. I set the options in it to Comfort, but ASS remains disabled in Sport.

When I updated the X5 the other day, it wiped out most of my old codings, but I was able to recode them without issue. Had to recode Default start mode: Sport Individual, Tire display: Press and Temp, Window interrupt on door open to Inactive, Right mirror dip to 70% (from 90%), Warning on start and Camera warning to inactive, Option for 5 blinks on one-touch turn. On the last one, the option for 5 dropped from the menu, but it was still working. The option showed 1 and 3 with neither selected. recoding added 5 to the menu and it was still selected.

Is there any danger using Bimmercode on my 2019 that I could lose the ability to code ASS to remain off?

The ability to code ASS off is related to iDrive version rather than the year. Coding ASS off with Bimmercode is lost with 03/2023.60 and later, I know first hand, and perhaps starting with 03/2023.50.

3/2023.67 new one says 22-07 kind of afraid of doing it and losing my laser light upgrade?

The DME control unit now being locked is what prevents Bimmercode from coding ASS, and I presume this is the case with any third party coding tool (unless someone has found a way around this).

As to your "laser light upgrade", whether you lose it upon updating iDrive depends on whether the update reprograms the applicable control unit. If it does, then yes, you'll lose it. If it can be recorded depends on whether the "laser light upgrade" requires coding of the DME control unit.

Screw it- getting rid of ASS is too important to chance. I deleted the upgrade/download. Car is beautiful now…don’t want BMW to screw it up.
