Fuel filler cap sticking closed
Couldn't open mine sat at the pump on Saturday, anyone else having the same problem? When I tried to push the left side in to release it it just got stuck and was slightly depressed compared to the external panel of the rear off side wing.

Just for general clarification...you didn't lock the vehicle after you stepped out, right? BMWs central locking will lock the fuel filler flap when you lock the vehicle with the remote fob or the exterior driver's lock (or comfort access locking from outside the vehicle).
The only time central locking does NOT lock the fuel filler flap is when you lock the car from inside using the central lock/unlock button (or individual door lock pins)...or if you have the doors programmed to lock when you start driving.

I presume you don't have a 45e? You need to push a dedicated button to release pressure in the tank.

This happened to me a few months ago on my 320d.. the dealer had to break the pin by inflating a balloon! Wasn't impressed with BMW doing away with the emergency release cable that used to be in the boot in the previous generation 3 series

There's an SIB on this issue. They did the SIB on my 2020 X7 and it helped slightly but didn't solve the problem. Plus, the door was misaligned and not flush with the body of the vehicle.
See my latest post on this issue below. The SIB is listed in the first post. Unfortunately even after replacing the whole unit the door still doesn't fit flush. I wouldn't even bother with the SIB. I would ask them to replace the Fuel Door Pot because the SIB isn't a permanent fix. At least it wasn't for me. https://g07.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1797514 Here's the original thread on the issue. https://g07.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...as+filler+door |

sorry to resurrect an old thread but my fuel filler door was doing the same and they are ordering a new lid and installing it next Tuesday. Will update after that. Currently have to poke at the lid 10 times before it finally decides to open.

Can you post a picture of what the new one looks like? Mine got replaced but it no longer sits flush. It works flawlessly but looks pretty sloppy. Below is mine after the replacement. Sorry about the side ways picture but this website can't seem to handle pictures in their native format.

Thanks for posting that. Looks like yours sticks out more on the bottom. As a matter of fact yours looks like mine did after they performed the SIB where they sanded it down to make stop sticking. That only lasted a few months before they replaced the whole pot.
It looks like yours sticks out more on the bottom. Mine is more even all the around but sticks out more. Here's a few more pictures of mine after they replaced it. It looks to me as if BMW doesn't have a set procedure/alignment specification for this. If they did, I would love to get my hands on that so I can determine if it's just sloppy workmanship, flawed design, or both. |

ps- dealer paperwork showed they charged bmw 3 hours of labour and parts for the fix. God alone knows how much ££££ it would have been a fix out of warranty. |
