Cool 2023 X5 45e Delivered today!

It arrived at my dealer on Friday, March 24 but we've had steady rain and I picked it up today!

Carbon Black MSport w/Silverstone complemented with Aluminum dark mesh trim. I'll definitely take a few more pics when it stops raining :-(

I'll get to that later in the week. The FIRST time I had a BMW with a synthetic material covering the seats was in my 1986 524td. That material was similar to the MBTEX that was very popular in Europe - while leather was favored i the USA. BTW I put 300K miles on that BMW over over the years and the interior only needed a quick clean-up with interior detail spray - NOT A BLEMISH ever; LOOKED LIKE NEW WHEN IT went on to someone else. Since then I've had leather of a variety of BMW 'names' in the 7 series, 5 series and my 25 year old Z3 Roadster. The 7's showed the most wear - common for cracked leather on the bolsters despite lots of good leather treatments. The leather on my 5 series BMWs (530x, 535x, 540x) had held up better; Maybe because my annual mileage dropped from 60-90K before 1996 to 25-30K. Or, maybe the leather got better.

I did a lot of seat time looking at all sorts of new BMWs during the past 2 years. I was across the whole BMW family of vehicles wondering what would replace my '17 540 xDrive. BTW - A TERRIFIC CAR!

I was very impressed with the look and feel of the perforated SensaTec in the 3 series and the X3's. It seemed like a suitable material for that range of BMWs and quite candidly felt and looked "nice" - My almost got it "target" was a dark gray X3 M40 with the red SensaTec interior. X5s seemed (to me) to carry over the interior quality of the 5/7 series and I was struggling with the SIZE of the X5 - but in the end I went with the larger vehicle; time will tell IF I made the correct decision.

Now back to Silverstone Sensafin ... The first time I started seeing this interior I like the look and feel; it is a PREMIUM material that IMHO will be very easy to maintain. And I no longer beat up my cars. And pricing allowed me to add other 'options' that would give me more driving excitement and pleasure. The last choice was color combinations - I've had my fill of black interiors; my 540 was beige Dakota leather and it was easy to keep clean; as a comparison, the pebbly surface of Dakota doesn't feel as 'premium' as the synthetic Sensafin. If I had gone with a lighter color X5 (?Arctic/Mineral White) I would have gone coffee or cognac. But Carbon Black and Silverstone was the combo I went with. And for trim piano black was not available (and I would need gloves to avoid fingerprints). But the Dark Mesh interior trim is a (IMHO) the match! I didn't think wood would fit best for me.

Once again it's been a day of learning about the car - pics to follow.

some great thoughts here, I appreciate your input!
sounds like you made a right choice, I hope you'll enjoy it for as many years as you wish

as far as color combo, the silver/grey would match well with light blue but since its not available (at least not in a standard configuration) the black works well too (unless you already tired of black but this isn't your case)

I owned light blue X5M in the past with black interior and always wished I had a Silverstone, for that I told myself next one will be, but finally decided on 40i vs M and had to settle for Arctic Grey with Coffee, no complains (well maybe next one)

I bought X5 few weeks back. Alpine white and Silverstone. Initially i was going to go for cognac interior but I wanted light interior so went to see silverstone in person and fell in love with it.

Sometimes i feel I should have gone with cognac but I think silverstone feels more premium. I had beige interior on my 3 series that I drove for 10 years and I loved that color.

Here one quick pic of my interior. This looks even better during daylight!

I was on the fence when I was building mine as I debated between silverstone, cognac, and tartufo. I ended up crossing out cognac because it wasn't the shade of brown I was looking for and it was a toss up between silverstone and tartufo. I chose the latter because I thought the silverstone was too light and thought that it would be a pain to clean. Although the contrast between the dark exterior and light interior is soooo nice! Congrats

Post pics of your interior when you can!
