Warranty Expired, Remote Software Upgrade is currently not possible.

Hello All,

I have downloaded version 11/2023.50 to my G05 last week, cause I was on vacation and the car didn't run much for almost 1 month, could be the battery not fully charged and since I drove 1 week and finally been noticed the upgrade can be installed today.

I did followed all the procedure put the car in parked but somehow the system telling me remote software upgrade is currently not possible, and will be given the chance to install the upgrade again shortly.

Actually later today I had another chance to install but same message came up, BTW my warranty expired 6 months ago, not sure the software upgrade only within warranty period ?

Thanks all

That is normal. Many, if not most, folks with older vehicles can't their OTA to install. Once and awhile putting its on a charger will kick it off but generally not.

Not being in warranty would have no effect on it.

Thank you
yea, it was more than 4 years old
one more question is possible to downgrade the software version
I noticed "CAR" > Settings > General settings > "Reset vehicle data".
not sure if I doing this, the software version would go back to the manufacture version ?

No, it is not possible to downgrade software. The Reset wipes out all settings, Profiles, favorites, etc.

Thank you for your reply, I thought reset vehicle date could also restore remote software to the factory version

I have exactly the same problem on a 2019 reg X5. And the overall software navigation , Apple CarPlay etc is sluggish at start up. What is the solution? I took it to a BMW dealer they said I have to wait till the software becomes available for the car to update? Is that true?

Welcome to the forum. It is true on the sense that they didn't want to update you, not that they couldn't. I have not heard of anyone with your issue so upgrading may not help but it likely wouldn't hurt. Ask your dealer what they charge for upgrading, most charge for a few hours. Some will charge more or not do it so you may have to check with a few.

If you haven't already, restart iDrive hold the volume button in for 30 seconds, easiest to do while driving since you will see the reboot starting), and then let go when the process starts.

know that even if they upgrade the software out of warranty, you may be financially responsible for any issues that may arise
