My M50i build and Production Timing Question
I placed an order for an X5 M50i on Wednesday, then on Friday the dealer was able to get an extra production slot in week 6.
What are the experiences for people who ordered and had their car moved forward after their name was attached to the slot/build? I don't want to get my hopes up for earlier, but I've heard sometimes it can move up once a customers name is attached... |

Congratulations! I’m in the same build week. In my experience, the prod weeks are fairly fixed — though some folks say they have been moved up when going to “priority 1” status. I believe Dravit Gray is an individual color, so hopefully you don’t actually move out to later. The individual components take more coordination to produce, so they sometimes end up delayed....or so my advisor tells me.

To clarify, my order has a later build date than the allocation week. My dealer claims it was a late Jan allocation, but I got a week 6 build due to the paint color and extended merino. Finally (and to add to the confusion), customer sold vehicles are labeled “priority 1”. In my experience that has not resulted in getting an earlier build, but it apparently does help get imported vehicles through the VPC. |

Being a priority 1 vehicle MIGHT get it moved to the beginning of any other non-priority vehicles scheduled for that week. But, it then depends on how long it takes to get it shipped from the factory...mine sat there for over a week before it was assigned to a carrier. If it were going overseas, then it could be longer as ships don't leave every day (at least once a week or so, though), but it has to get TO the port, or if in the US, maybe a rail station and then wait on the train. I don't think they like the vehicles to be sitting around for very long at the port or train terminal, so things move in batches so they normally just keep moving along rather than sitting outside of the factory controlled area.
