I've contacted BimmerCode yesterday and they are aware of this issue and working on the solution.

I also contacted BimmerCode yesterday regarding the update for the non-beta version. They have informed me that the update, which will support software version 7/2023, is expected to be available this Friday.

Awesome! You probably contacted them later in the day (US).

Bit of advice for those that use BimmerCode. When you first connect to your vehicle at the start of each session, it makes a backup. Rename them with something meaningful like “Before Dazzle fix”. BimmerCode seems to like making unexpected changes and if you don’t know what you’re doing, it could be hard to roll back after you’ve gone too far. Example: Went to enable M layout on my daughter’s M340i. It changed the layout as expect but lost the M340i logo so I decided to switch it back immediately to the previous layout setting. It did BUT the M340i logo was still missing. Fortunately I had not made any other changes so I restored the backup and fixed it. Clearly it makes other changes and doesn’t drop bread crumbs so to speak for changing back.

Off topic. Noticed they also have a computer (Mac/pc) variant as well

I didn't think they found a solution for the ASS issue yet so let us know if you are successful.

BimmerCode app for Android has finally been updated to support the software version 07/2023.23. I have successfully coded the Body Domain Controller and Instrument Cluster. However, I encountered an issue with the ASS setting, as it is still not functioning properly.

I haven't used it extensively for a while and I remembered it being easier to rename, etc. Not sure if it's changed or I misremembered. You can go into the BimmerCode settings menu and then manage files. That just takes you to the BimmerCode backups folder which can also be accessed from your iPhone files menu. You can see all backups for all modules in there. Best to add a meaningful name/moniker there with the rename function. Changing that doesn't seem to update the naming in the main app though so you'll have to compare the renamed file timestamp with the backup timestamp in the app for restoring. The moniker will also help in deleting unneeded backup revisions.

Coding ASS off

As far as I have seen, the inability for ASS to be turned off is not due to an ECU being locked but rather different logic regarding the feature. Either way, it is not good for those that want to code it off.
Is there a benefit to coding ASS off?

Some people consider ASS an annoyance at best, while others will debate as to whether it contributes to more wear + tear on the starter + engine. A few people have also commented on the inconvenience of ASS in stop+go traffic since it will also turn off the A/C when the engine stops. I've experienced this myself but still have the ASS button by the shifter so I can disable it at will. Finally, BMW will tell you that ASS is intended to provide better fuel economy, so there is much debate there as well - no comment from me

The benefit would be the ASS is off, how important that is would be up to the individual. I keep mine on but it bugs me almost every time I park my X5 in the garage. I would code it off, like I did on the M340i, but it doesn’t bother me at other times.

on my wife’s previous G30, whenever the engine stopped at a light due to ASS, I would quickly release the brake pedal then press it again (as I’m at a stop). doing so fired up the ICE; no start-up lag upon acceleration. I also didn’t have to worry about the AC shutting down. does this work on the X5?

YES. THIS. I have tried this on 2023 G05 and 2024 G06 and it works! When stopping on a light, I leave enough room in the front. Once the engine stops, I quickly released the brakes to start the engine and it keeps running after that. I’ll try to see what’s the longest it will keep running that way.

They usually keep the major version in the field for a few months prior to releasing it as an OTA. The iD8.5 update is scheduled for OTA in September so they likely will send the 07:2023.xx as and OTA to everyone.
