Your car should still be in warranty so get the dealer to replace it. It should be covered provided there is no evidence of damage from a stone chip or driver error.

Degreaser shouldn't do this but you shouldn't really use that for bug removal. It's too strong for that purpose and you dont want it around your paint. Use detailer spray or even a cheap spray wax to remove bugs. Stubborn ones will soften up by laying a wet towel on them for a few minutes.

It was probably a rock chip and not the the degreaser. If it was the degreaser you would see the rest of the silver paint rubbing off.
The part can be replaced but to do it you need to remove the entire front bumper. The part is not that expensive. $250 or so if I remember correctly. |
