AirConsole games in iDrive 8.5 update
Hello Gurus. The last update allows games to be played in the car through the AirConsole. Shhhh, the kids can't know this!!.
It could be a good thing for long road trips but how will it not affect necessary car functions like navigation et al? I would also like to know if Youtube videos can be played on the iDrive screen and what is needed for that. |

You can only play the games while the vehicle is parked. The idea behind it is to give people who have to charge their EV something to do while they are waiting.

Oh, that makes sense. I was expecting the Youtube icon as I seem to read somewhere they've implemented that. Maybe it was in earlier versions of iDrive though. I'll prefer that feature.

The games seem to be part of the entertainment package, which is only free for one year. No idea on the cost after that.
I've got YouTube on mine, but it tells me I need an eSim or something ... |

It's just sat there in the apps menu. Clicking on it tells me I need to activate/connect an eSim.
In the UK there are no partnerships with mobile operators, so you have to subscribe to a new cell service to use it. I'm not interested enough to pay what they wanted to charge me, so it can sit there unused. |
