depends on what type of tire. For summers, Pirelli, winter Continental. If you want the real answer Michelin is the best

Too bad BMW is not fitting Michelins at the SC Assembly Plant. Michelin Corporate HQ is just down I85 and a large test and research facility is in Laurens SC.

I'm picking up the X5 next week. I know my X5 is coming with Continentals. I've seen it. It is what it is.
I was unlucky with our recent M2 that came with Continentals as well. We got it in December and put on the Michelin Alpines right away. Conti's are going on this weekend. I'll have two vehicles running Continentals. The reality is we'll be in a second set in around 30,000 km. I'll move the M2 into the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S for sure and I'll think about what to do with the X5.

I figured given how the 22" are only offered with them. I stated the better for each case as a reference.

I have Pirelli in my 3 series and they are not bad. I had Bridgestone in 14 X5 and I was more happy with those. The best part was if there was a flat I could go to Costco and have it fixed for $11. But if I had a flat in my 3 series Pirelli I had to go dealer and have it REPLACED as Costco will not fix flat for Pirelli. Since I have tire and rim protection for 3 series I pay only $50 per incident so it is not that bad. But there was time when I had a flat on major highway on Saturday night. I had to wait till Monday morning to take to dealer and have it changed.
So if I have an option to choose I would get Michelin or Bridgestone so I can get it fixed by Costco. I am glad that my 19x5 came with Bridgestone. So reading other comments I think you might be better off with Pirelli and change to something better in future. All the best. |

The reason for Costco not wanting to fix Pirelli is that Pirelli has no-fix clause on many of their tires and Costco is a stickler for that kind of stuff Hopefully the newly announced Michelin SUV Pilot Sports should come in our sizes soon.
