PSdZData_v.4.25.33_Lite is out...Question

So I am new to coding and am trying to learn more and more as I move along.

I am currently using eSysX with PSdZData 4.25.12 & eSys 3.34.0.

When these new releases of PSdZData come out, what are the benefits of updating the files in your C:\Data\psdzdata folder?

Thanks!

You should aim to have a psdzdata that is the same or newer than your i-step/esys target connector.

If the i-step is newer than your psdzdata you will get coding issues/missing cafd etc.

If the psdzdata is newer than your launcher (launcher pro/esysx/esys plus) can support, then you will get trimmed codes.

general rule of thumb is to use the latest psdzdata, especially if you like to keep your i-step current. Similarly, if the psdzdata is current, then you will need to update your launcher though there can be a period of delay until the launcher support is provided for latest i-step/psdzdata.

Launcher pro 3.7 is way behind with mappings, esysx and esys plus are up to date with i-step 07/2020 and latest psdzdata.

VERY helpful!! Thanks!

So my I-step is 07/2020.45 (which I believe is the latest) so I would be well advised to update PSdZData to this latest as well?

New to esys and thought I was on my way this evening after a lot of leg work preparing. Using Esysx, and the PSdZData 4.25.40 I select the latest S18A target. FA files read fine, but when reading the CAFD files everything is Red. This was unexpected. Any thoughts? Esys is 3.34.0

I don't think EsysX supports Esys 3.34. Have you verified that? I had to download a different version of Esys when I bought EsysX and setup the license.

Edit: looks like it does support Esys 3.34

Thanks for looking into it. I think it's a combination of my lack of experience, being timid, and slightly different versions.

I selected read ECU and then everything was no longer red, but they weren't the expected blue either. I proceeded with coding and had success with updating the FA file and coding the CAFD files. About to start another round. It takes much longer than I expected.

It can be nerve wrecking. What I do is after I read ECU I disconnect from the car and take my laptop inside. Read ECU essentially makes a copy of the cars CAFD files into your computer. Once you have that you don't need to be connected any longer. I like to do it this way because then I can be more comfortable and take my time with changing all the CAFD files. Once you have everything changed the way you want then you have to reconnect to the car and CODE FDL all the ECUs you changes.

That's a good idea. I did some more coding today and I now have a persistent warning that my collision detection is limited. I believe it's because I've tried to add some features, but my onboard software is too old. Not a big deal as I can undo everything. Ive been taking a very cautious approach of saving everything before and after my coding sessions.
