I believe a good indication of the newer hardware is if it has " The drivers assistance view". That was a definitive feature that seems to be the line in the sand.

^^ Really interested to know more about this change as well. Can't find info on this anywhere.

I can only gather these, July updates and assisted driving view:

Can we can safely assume that 07/20+ build dates all have the newer hardware? (F95 as well?)

While that feature may correlate with new hardware, note that it is software-codable as I have done on my 2018 build G05 (with updated i-Level) and definitely not dependent on any physical hardware from MY20/21.

In general, you can't assume any such thing with what seems to be the new normal at BMW (and probably other manufacturers following Tesla's lead): non-fully backwards compatible hardware, software, and features are now continuously evolving without keeping to either model generation or even model year boundaries. For example, I think there is some indication that Aug 2020 or later builds are needed for full upcoming Digital Key functionality.

Passenger side rear window opening fully when the car was locked and unattended. Now, its the first thing I check when approaching the car or last thing at night.

They are ventilated seats, not cooled. While both coming on together seems to be a bug some folks purposely put them on at the same time as it heats up the seats more quickly due to the warm air being circulated.

Is it maybe the "seat climate control" function?

No, there are no settings in the Climate Rules app to turn on both at the same time that is why it can be considered a bug. The Seat Climate Control is a manual operation.

The manual says "The last active function or function that is configured with higher intensity will be activated directly when the system is switched on again."

Which seems to imply that if you had Seat Climate Control on previously, it'll come on the next time? i.e., it's not climate rules, but function memory that turns it one - though I could be misinterpreting that line ...

While true it is not correct in the situation we are discussing, we are talking about the climate rules not any manual operation. I have never turned on both manually. Every once and awhile both the heat and ventilation will automatically be turned on simultaneously by the climate rules.

My theory is that first the ventilation is turned on due to it being warmer in the garage and as the temperature goes down while driving the seat heater is activated by that rule and the action by the previous rule is not cancelled. It does not happen all of the time though as far as I have seen but have not paid attention to it.

Has anyone else seen this occur or know why? My hazard red triangle remains illuminated for a while after turning off vehicle then finally turns off after some time...it's locked and alarm activated and red lights by rearview mirror flash as they should.

OP hasn't posted since July so I'm asking all here if they know why this occurs. Thanks

My F11 does that, I guess it's a feature.

thanks I've discovered its normal and works/illuminates as a proximity sensor when the key is in range and turns off after locking a few minutes later.
