Yup. Showed to Sales Manager, said "Needs to be fixed," took photos. They're going to also correct some other factory errors (in writing), so will verify their understanding - noticed it later. This section of the tailpipe is pretty thick metal, but appears to be a short run attached to the welded section from the muffler. Might be just as easy to replace it, but I'm definitely not a BMW exhaust system expert. Could be a big job, but hoping not.

It could very well be open. I know the few times I've popped the hood it's taken me several times to get it to latch fully - mainly because I was scared to scratch/dent something. You really have to pull down on the two anchor points under the hood with a great deal of force for the hood to latch fully. Even put a bit of body weight on the hood at the latch locations.

With BMW's its safer to slam the hood down when its about 1/2 way closed than trying to press on the hood to close it. I've seen so many reports of people denting their hoods from the second method.
I usually close it about half way down then put my finger on the hood roundel to give it a little extra nudge to slam it shut. No worries about denting the hood or adding fingerprints on it.

definatly appears that your right corner isn't latched completely...needs to be adjusted.

My dealer adjusted the a hood a little bit and it looks better now. 10 minute work.
He said they have a limited margin for adjustment. |

Yes, it's much better but still not 100%? As you can see the top gap between the hood and the right kidney when looking at it, is slightly bigger than on the left side. I guess 1mm. The tip in the middle is much better.
But I have seen cars where it's perfect. Guy at the workshop said they can only adjust so much because everything must stay aligned. He said it is mass production on an assembly line, no two cars are the same. And sometimes things can be a few mm off. They even get Mini's where on sight you can see the one front light is lower than the other. I think I have to live with it because they can't adjust it more. My wife says I'm going nuts and losing it |

Back to the dealer next week. The tip of the hood is more centered but at other places it is crooked. For example the right side of the hood is lower than the fender, left side is Ok. The top of left kidney is not flush with the hood, the right kidney is Ok, the space between fender and hood is on the left side somewhat bigger than on the right side.
Not much, always a few mm but enough to see it, and once see it you keep seeing it The hood must definitely be realigned. Don't understand they didn't saw that last time in the workshop I don't buy the explanation of the workshop anymore. They fixed it in 10 minutes but if the complete hood is misaligned I think the fix will take more than 10 minutes. Even my wife agreed me |

Was at the dealer. There is definitely something wrong with the hood alignment. At multiple places it is not aligned well. They took pictures for BMW and they have given consent for the repair.
Hopefully it's only the hood because they say it's also possible other parts are not well placed or aligned. If they have to remove the hood, the screws will break the paint. So it has to be repainted. Hopefully only the backside of the hood and not the front side. Brand new car, I can't understand that this passes QC. |

I am having the same problem, every time I pop the hood it takes me a few goes to actually close it properly.
It seems to catch but not all the way home. I have tried slamming it, pushing on it when its half closed etc. Never found it difficult to close one before so Im glad Im not alone - I thought I was doing something wrong!!!! Quote:
