Useful for many, but mine was built with that version in it! So, I don't know what was available for others prior to that.

Does this mean that this update is actually coming over the Air for people? Because previously you had two wait a year later for it to even have a chance of showing up. When I think remote upgrade I think iOS, when its available to download its available. Not a year later at a random time unless you go to the dealer to manually have your car updated.

Is it known what minor version it will be? I now have 07/2020.45, I know 07/2020.60 is out, but will .60 be the one released through OTA? If that is the case, BMW is finally delivering what OTA should be. Always be up2date with the latest version.

I ordered mine the end of June, but told the dealer I wanted it built no earlier than August since the phase in of some of the software features for the X5 was scheduled for then...mine ended up being built the end of August in their next available production slot, and it has the 2020.7.xx software in it. One of the features I wanted with the Apple digital key capability. The press release announcing that gave a schedule by model of when it would be incorporated, and that's what triggered my date selection. One thing that delayed it some was the seat color/configuration was on backorder.

Watching the CarPlay bit with interest. While the link says about Apple Maps being available in HUD now, the video says all CarPlay now available in HUD eg perhaps Waze...? Fingers crossed, but I suspect not!

The 07/2020 update includes support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay apps that are updated to use it. This is a new facility to app developers and it's up to them to write the code into their apps to use the new (to them) HUD capability.
So far, and as far as I know, that's only Google Maps on AA and Apple Maps on CP. Hopefully Google Maps on CP and Waze on both will be soon to follow. As Google owns both of them, and they already done Google Maps on AA, I take it there are no ideological reasons why they would not. Fingers crossed! |

Hahaha... not sure which is more odd; the rooster skateboarding or the mysterious fellow with the top hat in a smokey alleyway.

Yay! Got the 07/2020.54 OTA update today, in the UK. Noticed a few things.
Turns out there's no point in incessantly checking the Connected app over breakfast and throughout the day to see if an update is available, without driving the car in these WfH times. Appears it's the car that notices an update is available and tells the phone app when it's connected to the car, triggering the phone notifications and download process. An "essential" trip to a Starbucks Drive Thru [sic] today, 10 miles away for me, was enough to get mine going. My update went straightforwardly and took about 30 minutes. Only problem was CarPlay got very confused. Had to faff about deleting and repairing my iPhone. Seems like you can't delete the WiFi connection, or at least it comes back from the dead very easily. Not sure things are quite repaired yet as the phone doesn't realise there isn't any Internet connectivity when connected to the car's WiFi (meaning Wi-Fi Assist doesn't do its job). Now, when CarPlay is connected, I can't browse from my phone and Google Maps on CarPlay is missing tiles, although iMessage does work - like I say, very confused. Apple Maps through CarPlay shows pretty good info in the HUD, although roundabouts seem to just be the symbol with the exit number in the middle, rather than the nice mini-map you get with the BMW nav. As anticipated, Google Maps and Waze on CarPlay have no such integration just yet. I already knew, Bimmercode's current release reads the Body Domain Controller but fails when it gets to 100%. That means I can't recode the mirror dipping to 70% and the default driving mode on startup. (I know I can do it with the beta version. I know these are insignificant niggles.) And for completeness, tried Carly again after seeing a number of app updates over recent months. That can only read one of the car's ECUs. Still quite useless for a G05. Really very poor that this commercial product can't understand a vehicle that's more than two years old from launch. |

07/2020.48 still, and I was told we have to take it to dealer to get an update. Is anyone in the USA seeing the OTA update to .54?
