G05 remote start info update

Just confirmed that the G05 remote starts works two ways:

- Via Keyfob by pressing the BMW logo twice

- Via ConnectApp on a smart device.

Could be added to Alexa in the future.

I got in the habit of pressing the logo twice to lock the car so I'm glad I passed on the remote start. My car would constantly be running.

Maze ..I commend you for not going with remote start in Chicago.
It's a must for me.
I thought about it a lot and figured I'd get the most use in the summer with the A/C since it doesn't take that long to cool the car down a decent amount. In the winter, I think the car would need to be idling for a while to pump out heat. Plus, my car is in a heated garage for the winter. I've been a driver for 20 years in temperate climates and I've lived without remote start for this long so I figured I could go another 3 years.

I wonder what the range is. It wont be much use if you have to be within 10 feet for it to start. You should be able to start it from inside your office or home, so the car will be up to required interior temp when you get to it.

I would also be interested to hear a definitive answer on this. The NFC in the Apple Watch would seem to indicate that it's certainly possible.

I've read that the iPhone will have this capability, but will need to be placed on the wireless charging pad in order to start the engine. I'm curious to know whether an additional step would be required with the Apple Watch as well.

Also curious to know whether the access card will be provided with the vehicle when new.

Any thoughts?

Per the dealer training I was able to listen in on...1 access card will be included with every X5 beginning with the Dec builds (if they have Comfort Access I believe). He said customers with earlier builds should be able to request a card after Dec since all the hardware will present to read the cards. He recommended working with your dealer to acquire the card.

He also mentioned customers will be limited to only 1 card. If you order a 2nd, the first will be deactivated automatically.

This is the first I've heard of this access card. Can someone clue me in as to what it is? Is it just another way of accessing the vehicle? Is it like another key where one can start the car?

Grain of salt...

https://www.bmwblog.com/2018/09/13/b...-and-8-series/

I also find it very interesting and somewhat contradicting of the prevailing information regarding the G05 X5. I spent some time this afternoon reading the Owners Manual in its entirety. The US version has a whole subsection dedicated to the Display Key. I'm really interested to see how this will play out.

Thanks! And it would be cool if the G05 comes with the Display Key. But some on here had already stated that it wouldn't.

Question is - can you remote start in the UK??? I have pre-heat/cool on another car and it is a life saver for the winter commute.
