best car vacuum for X5?

would appreciate recommendations for a portable car vacuum. Do a lot of outdoorsy stuff, hiking, camping and so dust gathers every weekend. No pets, but girlfriend has dog and cat and whenever she travels with me, I notice pet hair on her backpack LOL

I keep a 20v portable powered DeWalt Max air inflator in the truck and sometimes the Max 1/2 gal wet/dry vac - bought it together as package. Think Home Depot had it on sale awhile back with battery packs.

Vac has:
- HEPA wet/dry filter
- Dual cleanup with front utility nozzle or extendable hose
- Washable filter

Auricom, I was about to say that looks really nice portable and clean, but that's over $200? It's very rare that I have to vacuum the car when I am away from home, but for those just a cheap $20 dust buster will work just fine, but in between washes or after trip to beach, etc, I just pull into my garage and my use kenmore canister that my wife dismissed as "old fashion" when she wanted to get a dyson (I don't see the difference in pefrormance between $200 sears canister vs $600 dyson). I just throw in a new $2 bag time to time, it beats anything out there in terms of suction. Those irritating peforated seats get cleaned really easily with real vacuum cleaner.

I use Dyson with the extension hose:

Being cordless is really important, and the extension hose allows you to reach any where.

I don't see a point of using a portable vacuum as it is usually not strong enough to clean through the carpet or perforated seats. I stick to my good old wet/dry Shop Vac. It is a 3.5HP vac with a couple of attachments that seem to clean anything I through at it. If you must get a portable one, that DeWalt one seems to be very very good, but with a hefty price tag. If it works well, why not?

the DeWalt looks nice but is it heavy and bulky? Already have a lot of camping gear in the trunk.
I do have ventilated perforated seats which is annoying since small dust particles get in.

Oooo that's nice, Imma get one for emergencies.

About a year ago I was loading a 3 gallon jug of water into the trunk of my M4 at the grocery store and it suddenly broke

Luckily I had some towels which I quickly put around the edges of the trunk flooring insert making a pool of about 1/4" of inch of water and then I furiously scooped with my hands until it was low enough to use papertowels, a jacket, work papers, grocery bags and anything else I could find to soak up the water.

Right under the M4's trunk floor insert are shitloads of electronics - it coulda been a disaster (though my understanding is the X5 trunk can take water spills, at least the 45e can)

I picked up the DeWalt Max 20v wet/dry vac, air inflator, 2 pack battery, charger and kit bag on sale for $180 - most of the cost are the batteries. But ja I could have done it cheaper, otherwise I'm happy with it.

Only time I bring the vac is when I haul the dogs in the back - does a great job sucking up the hair from my two furballs. Otherwise it's in the garage. I do keep the air inflator stored in the truck at all times - extremely convenient in the winter.

It's more bulky than heavy and I only keep it in the truck when I'm hauling the dogs, otherwise it stays in the garage workshop.

Yikes! I should remind myself to keep store a towel in the trunk incase of big spills, LOL.

The worse I've done is knock over a coffee mug or half a big gulp of soda in the front. Luckily the floor liners contain the majority of the spills. Since that I try to void hauling gallons of liquids LOL.

Ja, the DeWalt is a bit bulky but lightweight - does a great job vacuuming up stuff - there are cheaper alternatives. But as I mentioned earlier - I got the air pump + 2x 20v batteries kit and bag for $180 and they threw in the vac for pretty much free.

Oh puppers! I didn't think of that. Yeah with dogs, especially the kinds that shed a lot, you need something handy, and those wimpy $20 dust busters are no match for dog hair. I think car carpets (mats and base carpeting) have some kind of hair magnet. I had a cat in my old car once, and I kept finding cat hair in odd places months and months later..

It's for V7 or newer models.

V6 or older models require a different extension hose.

I don't keep it in my vehicle unless on a trip but the Dyson V10 Animal works great for all around car use. The mini motorized tool works fantastic for carpets and the crevice tool with a flex hose lets you get along the seats and behind the pedals with no problem.

Use this Dyson for pets hair also you can use for car cleaning. I've been using the Dyson v11 creature for last 3 years and happy with it.

This is on sale today on Amazon Prime Day for $140, looks OK to me if you don't already have one. I don't think I'd pay $200 (would rather get Auricom's DeWalt with inflator, and I think it has radio too?) but considering basic dust busters are getting more and more expensive, this seems like something that fills the space between dust buster and canister with 20V battery.

I think I am looking for something that I can store in the trunk and use it whenever needed. I don't have pets and would not need something that is solely focused on pet hair.
