I didn’t like the new setup either until I found out I could just punch the talk button and say “set temperature to 69” or whatever temp I wanted. Don’t even have to take your eyes off the road.

That's surprising, I live pretty far from SA though.

It's more fun if you play with her a bit. Tell her "I'm cold" and she'll ask you what you'd like the temperature set to.

She only works half the time for me. maybe she relies on having good signal to the car because of cloud computing

Always love the folks who are quick to dismiss any negative comments on a car they are probably blindly in love with. OP posts his dissatisfaction for his X5, and people think it's fake news or posted by a competitor. Unreal.

But I guess some here have large enough leases to where they better love it to bits, right?

As a potential Buyer of an X5 for the very first time, I do appreciate this review and perspective! And I AGREE 100%... Some of the things you mention specifically are disheartening and down right upsetting. Hope it all works out for you... I am am also in N TX.

Actually my lease not only allows me to "love it" but for the pretax price of a Ford Taurus . That's THE.BEST

Quick to dismiss what he said? Not at all, I simply disagree. If I bought a car I didn't like I'd get rid of it as I've done in the past. I think the majority of us here follow that as well. If we can afford to buy a $70-100k vehicle then it's not a matter of being blindly in love. I've had issues with my X5 but still, love it. I've driven everything on the market remotely in this class and there's no close second.

And they should be taken with a grain of salt. Unless he got the one oddball vehicle produced, some of the items he mentioned are so far off base from reality that they must be a gross exaggeration or designed to agitate. I would recommend looking at all of the other reviews and postings before forming an opinion.

I concur, I wrote a pretty blunt review and have expressed my dissatisfaction with a few things, overall the car has been great.

Lady parks next to me at our grocery store in a 2019 Q7 today. Since I test drove one twice I had to ask, "how do you like it? I'm picking up a 2019 BMW X5 this week". She replied, "I love it. Just traded out of a X5 in fact" When asked why she said she likes the ride much better.

So.........different strokes for different folks. She's also comparing her new Audi with an older model X5.

I hope the OP finds what he's looking for and I know how he feels. This purchase is a lot of money, don't care if you/we are millionaires and can easily afford to pay cash.

It's gonna be real hard for us to give up our Lexus RX350 and going to this X5 with all the bugs scares the helluva out of me. In 6 years of ownership I literally did no "repairs" other than change the windshield wipers.

Would love the XC90 but read too many reliability horrors.
Ditto the settings thread, I'm fairly adept at setup of these sort of things and I constantly feel that the iDrive 7 is messed up somehow and I don't want to spend another Saturday trying to figure it out. The dealership 'Genius' didn't know what he was doing. Told me the speed limiter button turned on the system. I'm driving away from the dealership like an idiot trying to figure out why the freaking car won't go faster than 43mph!
