However, in my g01/ g02 there is a setting where you can have the car automatically turn in the heated wheel / seats when the temperature is below a certain value that you can adjust.

I wonder if you can set this value and then have the remote store work on the x5. When the car turns on it notices that the temperature is below "x" value.

Just a thought. Someone try this please.
For the X3, only the steering wheel comes on automatically below the preset temp set in idrive. While you can preset the temp for the seats, they'll only come on when the seat belt is engaged or attached

I've had a g05 loaner for over a week now and and impressed the with heated armrest/wheel/seats.

Remote start should provide a nice experience

I have been using remote start and the cabin is still cold when I get to the car.

I am experimenting with different options but so far it starts the engine and that is it.

Are you giving it time enough to warm up? When it was colder here (1 - 13 degrees) and I used the start from my app telling it what time I was going to depart, the inside was nice and warm with the temp set on 72 from when I parked it.

I am just hitting start from the app not setting a depart time. Maybe that's my issue?

You enabled the climate control remote start feature in idrive?

I go to ConnectedDrive App on my iPhone and hit Climatize now not departure climatize departure. Is that what you do? Maybe I have to give it more time.

unfortunatley, idrive 7.0 took the "turn on heated seats and steering wheel when temp reaches x° " out. Genius hot line says there getting a whole lot of complaints. I saw a youtube video somewhere that showed there is a way to do it on the new 3 series but, it looked like it was in the APPS section now. i would like to ASSUME a fix is coming for G05

I hope BMW is going to offer a fix for Android-users at some point in time.

Focusing on iPhone alone won't cut it. My dealer told me that as of today, you can unlock the vehicle without a key by using your phone but only a few Samsung phones are capable of doing that.

So is BMW expecting us to carry an iPhone for for remote start and a few other options (since Android Auto is not supported) AND a Samsung Android to use the key-less feature the same time??

I started this thread. It is confirmed it literally just starts the car which is stupid.

I was in a diner yesterday for 40 minutes. It was -8F so I remote started the car. When I got in the car cold air was blowing, almost like AC. When I restarted the car warm air came out. I have the 50i and it should have been warm when I got in.

I was doing this just to test the feature. My F150 buddy is laughing since his remote start does so much more.

Can you check if the below is selected?

In Idrive -> settings -> climate control -> preconditioning/ventilation -> remote engine start -> check "starting engine for climate control

Thanks.

I was not waiting long enough. I would hit remote start from my office then start for my car. Now I start it about 15 min before I leave. Much better.

So let me understand. If you have your HVAC system set on Auto and 72 degrees, if you start the vehicle remotely it doesn't start to bring the interior to this temperature? I understand that heated seats and steering wheel default to off.

Sure it does. It will leave the temp at whatever was last used. If you ‘“ventilate” without starting, the temp will only be what the outside are is.

So the complaints are from folks who want to heat their seats and steering wheel?

At this point there isn’t a option to have them automatically turn on at a certain tempature. That should be a easy programming fix. It’s such a common feature on domestic vehicles that it’s almost unbelievable it was omitted by BMW.

No, this is not true. I routinely use remote start to warm my car in my driveway before leaving the house, and it definitely warms the interior temperature. I have mine set on 74 degrees. However, you do have to give it some time to warm up, depending upon the outside temperature and how long it has been sitting. But that's no different than would be the case if you got in it and started it. No one expects the interior temperature to immediately go from cold to warm, do they? Of course not.

I don't believe the remote start automatically turns on the rear defroster either? I have used mine several times and wish it would. Actually slightly dangerous, the car is warm, but the rear window and side mirrors are frosted over....

Don't hold your breath - BMW is conservative AF and seem content to do less....
